EA SPORTS™ WRC - Season 3 Update Details

A new Season of content is on the way in the latest update to EA SPORTS™ WRC.

The third Season of EA SPORTS™ WRC content is just around the corner, including new Rally Pass items, Moments and more. Read the patch notes here and check out the info below for further detail.

Season 3 Rally Pass1 - Starts February 13

An all-new Rally Pass will begin from February 13, featuring a new set of customisation items for your driver and cars. Get a sneak peek at these new items with our Reveal Trailer, both embedded above and linked here.

Players can unlock a range of customisation items by earning XP throughout the game, with 20 levels of rewards in total. Drivers can unlock up to 10 free items, as well as an extra five with EA Play, and an additional 15 with the VIP Rally Pass for a total of 30 items across the entire season.

If you’ve yet to complete Rally Pass Season 2 and unlock all of its rewards, you have until the morning of February 13 to do so, before the game switches over to Season 3 and all players are reset to Level 1.

Season 3 Moments2 - From February 13

Also going live on February 13 are a new Season of Moments, celebrating the history of WRC with daily challenges in-game.

With the real-world 2024 season underway, Moments inspired by this season’s rallies will be available in-game shortly (around 1-2 weeks) after each event.

To get a taste of what’s to come, Season 2 Moments based on January’s epic Rallye Monte Carlo are live in-game now, and all Season 2 Moments will move into the Archive tab once Season 3 goes live, where they can be re-played at any time.

As for Season 3 Moments, here’s a small taste of what’s to come:

A British Icon (Monte Carlo)

At the 1964 Monte-Carlo rally, Paddy Hopkirk took a win so iconic it became one of the defining historic moments for the MINI Cooper S as a car, with his win remaining in rally folklore to this day. The MINI Cooper S was unrivaled in these icy conditions.

Unlucky Moment (Chile)

While on a charge Teemu Suninen damaged his steering badly, crashing out of this event despite what looked like a promising turn of events for the Finn.

The Jack of All Trades (Mexico)

The highly sought after Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 road car was modified for rallying, seeing success early on in its career, as well as in other racing series. In modern times the Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 remains a true classic.

A Defiant Monte-Carlo Defence (Monte Carlo)

Erik Cais started the final day of the Rallye Automobile de Monte-Carlo 2022 with a 44.5 second lead, maintaining this lead to win this iconic event.

WRC Prototype (Sardinia)

The Volkswagen Polo 2017 never made it to international competition but was tested extensively before the project ended. Naturally, this surface type would have been part of this testing program had it continued.

Version 1.5.1 Update - Out February 8

On February 8 the latest update to EA SPORTS™ WRC will go live, containing several fixes and improvements across the game.

This update primarily focuses on the Season 3 content & Moments ahead of its release on February 13, along with performance improvements and fixes across several locations.

We do have one surprise for you all, as a new livery will be added to the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, that of 2023 WRC2 Champion Andreas Mikkelsen.

This free design will be Livery #10 when you select the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 in WRC2.

You can read through the full patch notes here, and we’ve highlighted the key fixes below:

  • Expanded upon Unreal Engine's shader compilation process when booting the game on PC, by adding PSO support for compute shaders. This should help reduce the amount of stutter experienced during gameplay.
  • Expanded upon Unreal Engine's VFX system ("Niagara"), adding PSO support for compute shaders. This should help reduce the amount of stutter experienced during gameplay.
  • Fixed an issue in some scenarios in which micro-stuttering was occurring while the player was hitting maximum FPS with V-Sync enabled. This should result in a smoother experience during gameplay.
  • Fixed an issue on all locations in which some reset lines were only triggering from one side, allowing players to pass through them freely.
  • Fixed a number of issues related to reset lines, corner-cutting and object collision behaviour across several locations.
  • Addressed a number of areas in which framerate would drop significantly on Chile. Other locations may also see a slight performance improvement as a result.

Additionally, there is more to look forward to in the coming months:

  • As mentioned previously, we are currently working on adding VR support to EA SPORTS™ WRC for PC only. We’ll reveal details once it is ready for release.
  • We are also finalising our official esports series for 2024. We’ll share more information about that when the time comes, but for now you can watch our invitational event from December to see some top-class rally action.
