How to Get and Use Combat Vehicles and Towable Weapons in Firestorm

Learn where to find them, how to refuel them, and more.

In this video, Flakfire Gaming takes you through the vehicles, transports, and towable weapons you can get your hands on in Battlefield™ V: Firestorm, and how to use them.

An emphasis on vehicles is one of the things that sets Firestorm apart from other battle royale games. They can play a huge role not only in your survival but in taking out enemies and getting you from one location to another quickly on the vast expanse of the Halvøy map. With that, let’s break down the available vehicle types.

Combat Vehicles – These are heavy-hitting vehicles (like the Panzer IV or Churchill Crocodile) with separate driver and gunner positions. In squad play, make sure to coordinate both positions with teammates. In solo play, you’ll need to switch between the two to make effective use of your vehicle. Light-armored options (like the Staghound T17E1) can be called in by a Reinforcement flare pistol, but the heavy-hitters (like the Valentine Mk VIII) will only be found in Vehicle Lockups.

Transport Vehicles – Fast and maneuverable vehicles like the Kubelwagen or Staff Car won’t give you an advantage when it comes to taking or dishing out damage. They will get you where you need to go quickly. Many will be able to carry your entire squad and can be found scattered around the map or called in by using Reinforcement flare pistols. The amphibious Schwimmwagen can carry you across land or sea, while the prototype helicopter can take you almost anywhere on the map regardless of the terrain.

Towable Weapons – Anti-tank and anti-aircraft guns, these definitely pack a wallop and can be towed by either combat or transport vehicles (including the tractor). To tow one, back your vehicle up to the weapon and press “T” on PC, “B” on the Xbox One controller, or Circle on PlayStation® 4. When you’re ready to unhitch the gun just use the same button. Look for these towables in small villages and around landmarks.

If you want to use a vehicle in Firestorm, you’ll need to keep it fueled and well-stocked with ammunition. Look for both scattered across the map, near vehicles, and in Vehicle Lockups.

There are two types of vehicle ammunition:

  • Light – Resupplies light vehicle weapons like machine guns
  • Heavy – Provides shells for large guns.

To rearm a vehicle, equip the appropriate ammunition type in your inventory and left-mouse click on PC or use the right trigger on your controller.

The last thing you want to do is run out of gas in Firestorm, so keep an eye on your fuel gauge and vehicle health at the bottom of the screen. As an added warning, an alarm will sound when fuel is getting dangerously low. Locate Jerry Cans throughout the map to refuel (to use them equip then left-mouse click on PC or right trigger on your controller).

Unfortunately, vehicles in Firestorm can’t be repaired, so if yours sustains a great deal of damage you’re probably going to want to abandon it and proceed on foot. If you’re killed inside a vehicle you can’t be revived. Another downside of vehicles is that they are loud enough to attract attention and give away your position. Avoid taking your vehicle anywhere with a great number of buildings around, as they provide plenty of ambush opportunities for enemies. And remember, anti-tank mines can be found in Firestorm as a gadget so definitely keep your eyes on the road.
