To celebrate Women’s History Month, we’re spotlighting some of our most beloved characters.

Name: Tali'Zorah vas Normandy

Class: Quarian Machinist

First appeared in: Mass Effect

Also appears in: Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3

Best known for: Tali is an expert on the geth, a synthetic race that rebelled against her people and forced them into exile. After hearing reports of geth venturing outside their isolated space, she tracks a patrol to an uncharted planet to investigate. With incriminating data recovered from a disabled geth unit in hand, Tali meets players for the first time on the Citadel.

Most memorable moments: In Mass Effect 2, Tali’s people accuse her of treason, and she returns to her fleet to stand trial. At this time, she's given the name Tali’Zorah vas Normandy. Tali visits the planet Rannoch in Mass Effect 3, seeing her people’s former homeland with her own eyes for the very first time. Throughout the Mass Effect Trilogy, she often utters “keelah se'lai,” a phrase in her native tongue which loosely translates to: “by the homeworld I hope to see one day.”

Tali’s extensive background in engineering leads to a fascination with the technology powering the Normandy, and she can be found spending large chunks of time in the ship’s engine room. From her hacking abilities to her expertise with combat drones, omni-tools, and emergency induction ports, Tali is one of a kind.
