FIFA 13 Has Unprecedented Opening Day

FIFA 13 continued to smash records in it's opening day with record sales in the first 24 hours at retail, record pre-orders around the globe and the biggest global launch day of any iOS game we've ever done in our history. Wow.
We posted recently about the growing popularity of soccer in North America, and that certainly proved to be true when the newest version of FIFA 13 hit the shelves. In the first 24 hours at retail the game sold 353,000 copies for Xbox and PlayStation, which is a 42% increase from the past year. It's been getting rave reviews with 39 review scores of 90 or above.
If that wasn't enough it also set records for iOS as our biggest launch-day performance of any EA iOS game in our history with downloads up 62% over last year. Think about that - we're the #1 publisher on iOS with games like Tetris, Bejeweled, SCRABBLE, Monopoly, Madden, NBA Jam, Real Racing and others - so that's no small accomplishment for our FIFA team. Our launch event in New York featuring Snoop Lion (formerly Dogg, of course) propelled the hashtag #SnoopFIFA13 to be trending in the US and worldwide on Twitter.
We want to thank all of our fans who have been playing FIFA 13 since launch day and congratulate the EA SPORTS team on another successful launch this month. Let us know in the comments your thoughts on the game so far and why you were so excited to pick up a copy!
