With close to a decade gone by since the release of SimCity 4, fans of the franchise have been getting excited about the upcoming announcement from Maxis.  What could it be? Would Maxis announce what fans have been waiting for? Tonight, fans rejoiced when they heard the phrase: “SimCity is back!”

Slated for 2013, the new SimCity (PC) gives you the power to change a world together with your friends. What does that mean? Imagine the possibilities as you begin to create your city. Will you develop a casino resort to bring in money, or will your focus be on mining the coal deep beneath your city’s surface? Build up a region with friends as each of you becomes a master of his or her own specialization. Choose whether or not you will collaborate on region decisions, or go rogue and play for yourself. But remember: whatever choice you make, there will be consequences that will have an impact not only on the look of your city, but on how your Sims react. For every choice, there is a consequence.

SimCity is driven by Maxis’ new gaming engine, GlassBox, which powers each simulation with real integrity in order to capture the world we live in today.  Literally, “What You See Is What You Sim,” from the simplicity of a single Sim to an entire world of cities.

Want the details as they come? Keep an eye on the official SimCity website for the latest news and images. What city will you create?
