F1 2021 - Driver Ratings Update

Records broken, hard racing and a lot of rain - we can hardly believe it’s only been two races since our last rating update.

F1 2021 Header

The F1® season continues its rollercoaster ride, with records broken, hard racing and a lot of rain. With all of that, we can hardly believe it’s only been two races since our last rating update.

As always, the drivers are scored according to their Experience, Pace, Awareness, Racecraft and Overall Rating, with the numbers weighted towards their most recent race results.

Take a deeper look into how the driver ratings are calculated here.

Here are some of the changes in the latest update, up to and including the Turkish Grand Prix:

Michael Schumacher

Raikkonen on the Rise

Raikkonen has rocketed himself up the timesheets, getting in the top four overtakers in both Sochi and Istanbul. The veteran has proved he’s still got it, his Racecraft and Overall Rating have both gone up by one.

Michael Schumacher

Ricciardo’s Results

The past two races have seen Ricciardo’s resurgence. Managing to be in the top three overtakers in both Russian (11) and Turkish (8) Grands Prix has risen his Racecraft by one, in addition to a one-point Experience boost. Despite a storming performance in the Turkish Grand Prix, starting from the back and finishing in 13th, his Pace has gone down slightly, though his Overall Rating remains the same.

Michael Schumacher

Pierre’s Penalty

The Turkish Grand Prix proved costly for Pierre Gasly, as he picked up a five-second penalty and one penalty point for his collision with Fernando Alonso in the first corner. This has meant his Awareness has dropped 12, the biggest points drop this update, and his Overall Rating by three.

Michael Schumacher

Alonso’s Awareness

It wasn’t just Gasly who picked up penalty points at the Turkish Grand Prix. Fernando Alonso received a five-second penalty and two penalty points after contact with Mick Schumacher causing his Awareness to fall by nine. Istanbul Park proved even more costly to Alonso, as finishing in 16th from a starting position of 5th has dropped his Racecraft by three. Both Awareness and Racecraft drops have seen his Overall Rating to go down by two.

Championship Rivals

In the battle of the driver ratings, there has been a little change since the last update. Max Verstappen’s Experience has risen by one, and his Pace and Overall Rating has dropped one each. Lewis Hamilton’s performances have ensured he stays where he is, keeping his position as the highest-rated driver on the grid.

If you’re new to the franchise, in F1® 2021’s My Team, you’ll become driver-owner of your Formula 1® team, and along with choosing the power unit and selecting your team’s name & colours, one of the most important decisions is that of your teammate. This is where the driver ratings come in - to help you decide who will be the best for you on your budget.

You can find the full ratings table from today’s update below. What did you think of the changes this time around? As usual, if you’re in the middle of a My Team save, you’ll be asked via an in-game message whether you’d like to apply the changes to your existing save.
