We’re incredibly excited to welcome Metalhead Software, a talented game development studio based in Victoria, B.C., and the makers of the fan-favorite Super Mega Baseball games, to our growing Electronic Arts family. We’ve long admired the work of the Metalhead team, and we’re thrilled to be joining forces with these passionate developers to bring the Super Mega Baseball franchise and their signature baseball experience to more players around the world.
We also recognize the incredible responsibility we have in ensuring that the enthusiastic and loyal community of Super Mega Baseball players feel welcomed into the EA community. Like each of you, we are players of Super Mega Baseball ourselves. We see our role as assisting and supporting the Metalhead team as they bring more of their special magic to the world through their games. As part of this, we see great potential for growth of the Super Mega Baseball franchise, including opportunities to leverage the power and reach of EA to bring more unique and engaging sports gaming experiences to baseball fans and players around the world.
We’re excited and energized by the opportunity to bring sports fans compelling new experiences that are original, authentic and innovative. We’re confident that together with the Metalhead team, we’ll have what it takes to knock it out of the park.
EA SPORTS is at the core of the sports experience for hundreds of millions of fans. In the past year, we’ve had more than 230 million people engaged with our EA SPORTS franchises and content and we introduced six new console and PC experiences, including FIFA, Madden NFL, NHL and UFC, as well as ongoing live service offerings on PC and mobile, bringing players closer to the sports, teams, and leagues they love. The return of baseball to our sports portfolio through today’s announcement and the acquisition of MLB Tap Sports Baseball through Glu Mobile is the latest in a series of aggressive franchise growth and unparalleled strength across EA SPORTS, including College Football, PGA TOUR and F1.
While we don’t have specifics to share about the next Super Mega Baseball game today, we’re excited to welcome the Metalhead team to the EA family, and to let our community know that baseball is back at EA SPORTS in a big way.
Stay tuned for more!
