Apex Legends™: Minimum Global Drop Rates

Everything you need to know about minimum global drop rates for Apex Packs†.

APEX LEGENDS™ MINIMUM DROP RATES

To Our Apex Community:

Today, we’re sharing a global breakdown of the minimum drop rates in Apex Legends™ which will also be updated in our FAQ. Recently, new regulations were introduced in Korea which require more detailed drop rate disclosures. In maintaining our commitment to transparent and consistent communications, we are providing all players globally with the same information so that you can continue to make your own informed decisions about in-game purchases.

We understand that seeing numbers in a vacuum may be confusing, so we wanted to share some important context behind the percentages that we are disclosing. Here are some important details we’d like you to know:

  • We have not adjusted our rarity drop rates and are now providing greater detail about cosmetic item drop rates.
  • The published drop rates are the lowest possible rates based on the inventory of a player who doesn’t own any Apex Legends cosmetics. An active player’s drop rates will be higher than any of the listed values based on what items they have in their inventory because of the duplicate protection.
  • Apex Packs guarantee that players won’t receive duplicate cosmetic items. This duplicate protection results in a variable drop rate where a player’s odds of obtaining a cosmetic item increases as they unlock more of that item type. Since every player has different odds of obtaining each cosmetic item based on their individual inventory of unlocked items, it would be impossible to dynamically show every player’s drop rate for every item. That’s why we are disclosing the lowest possible drop rate that assumes that no cosmetic items are owned (i.e. a new player’s account).
  • Heirloom Shards are still guaranteed if you do not earn them after opening 500 Apex Packs. Heirloom Shard drop rates were previously listed as “less than 1%”, but we can now share a more detailed percentage of 0.045%.

HEIRLOOM SHARD DROP RATES

Heirloom Shards are rare, reflecting the very special nature of these items in our game. While we have shared in the past that Heirloom Shard drop rates were less than 1%, we can share the more detailed percentage of 0.045%. However, we built in a guaranteed Heirloom Shards drop for those who did not receive any after opening 500 Apex Packs to balance this. This ensures that every player will receive this currency to unlock a Mythic item of their choice along their Apex journey.

DUPLICATE PROTECTION & COSMETIC ITEM DROP RATES

It’s important to note that the drop rates disclosed for cosmetic items are the lowest possible rates based on the inventory of a player who hasn't earned any of the Apex Legends cosmetics from the relevant Apex Pack pool. This is because Apex Packs feature duplicate protection which guarantees that players will not receive the same cosmetic item twice. As players unlock more of a cosmetic item type, their odds of getting a specific item will increase. This means that every account has different odds of acquiring each cosmetic item type based on what they have unlocked already.

As it would be impossible to disclose every individual player's dynamic drop rates, we are instead providing the lowest possible drop rates that assume you’ve never earned any Apex cosmetics (i.e. a completely new player). If you already have a collection of cosmetic items in your Apex Legends account, then your drop rates will be adjusted and can be higher than those shared in the FAQ.

Please keep in mind that these cosmetic item drop rates represent the chances of obtaining 1 specific item from the item types in the total Apex Pack pool. Items in the Apex Pack pool can also be obtained through other means, such as using Crafting Metals to craft the item.

For a full breakdown of drop rates, please visit the Apex FAQ which will be fully updated as of the launch of Season 23.
