Here at Electronic Arts, we’re celebrating six years of our annual Purpose and Beliefs Awards, designed to highlight the amazing experiences that employees and teams are creating across EA. These awards recognize employees who embody and champion our core values in their work and actions. The Purpose & Beliefs Awards are the highest recognition given out by EA, and represent how we all should strive to achieve success.
The Purpose and Beliefs Awards originated from a global employee inquiry into EA’s “secret sauce.”
When Andrew Wilson started as CEO, he felt it was important to focus on EA’s mission, vision, and collective beliefs. The process to identify and define these beliefs involved global employee interviews to identify what we do well. Rather than a top down approach, this process was an active inquiry to the team to define our “secret sauce:” what it is that helps us thrive. The outcome to this global initiative was naming what is known today as EA’s six key values: Creativity, Determination, Learning, Passion, Pioneering, and Teamwork.
In addition to recognizing individuals who embody our six core beliefs, our award ceremony also includes our Inspire the World to Play Award, and our newest Culture Impact Award.
The Inspire the World to Play Award recognizes an exemplary people manager who is committed to the success and development of their team, with a focus on excellence, inclusion, trust, and integrity. This manager demonstrates our Purpose & Beliefs in their day-to-day actions and conversations, and inspires others to do the same.
The Culture Impact Award recognizes an individual at EA who has had a significant impact in cultivating a strong, positive, and healthy culture. They contribute to creating an inclusive environment where all of our people can thrive and do their best work.
Why these awards matter
These awards represent a time to pause and reflect on the scale of impact that everyone at EA can have. As part of the awards process, colleagues, managers, and peers get to consciously recognize and illustrate the everyday moments in which their colleagues embody our beliefs and contribute to our culture.
Through celebrating key people who embody our values, they serve as valuable insight into how everyone at EA can live and act on our values in their own day to day moments.
