How to Play Anthem with Friends
Learn about matchmaking with friends, joining recommended squads, Alliances, and more.
Blessious takes you through the basics of the game’s matchmaking system and how to earn the most rewards for you and your friends in Anthem™.
Playing with Friends
It’s easy to join friends in missions or Strongholds: just go to “Social” and “Invite Player” then “Friends,” hover over their names and press invite. Once everyone’s joined you’re ready to head out on your next expedition. You can also join friends who are already playing, choose the “Reinforce Friend” option, and select the mission or Stronghold they’re currently exploring.
No Friends Online? No Problem
Looking for people to play with? Click “Social” and “Invite Player” and then the “Recommended” option to bring up a list of suggested players. Again, hover over their names and press invite to get your new squad started. You can also choose “Quickplay” from the “Expedition” screen, to be sent on a random mission with other players on the same difficulty setting as you.
Leaving a Squad
When you’ve completed an expedition and want to leave your squad again, go to “Social” and “Squad” then hover over your name. If you select it you’ll see the “Leave Squad” option. That will quickly and easily remove you from your current team.
Alliances
Your friends and anyone you’ve played with are automatically added to your Alliance, and give you opportunities to earn extra rewards each week. The XP of the top five friends on your friends list can generate Coin for you, paid out each week when the alliance system is reset.
The more you and your friends play, the greater the rewards for all of you.
Strong Alone. Stronger Together.
In Anthem you’re more powerful when you work together, so try to strategically customize your loadouts with teammates in mind to ensure the success of your party. Coordinating attacks and priming your enemies will allow your teammates to detonate and create devastating combos to deal extra damage. The best way to do this is to use a mic and headphones to stay in contact. Communication is key, and it can make the difference between success and failure – especially with more difficult challenges like Strongholds.
Note: if your mic is plugged in, chat will be turned on by default. If you’d like to change this, you’ll need to go into your settings to do so.
