Tips and Tricks for the Colossus Javelin

Blessious takes the big, bad Colossus javelin out for a ride and shows you how to make the most out of this hulking war machine in Anthem™.

If you’re looking for a javelin that’s built to clear out enemies with ease, the Colossus is for you. With its mounted artillery and Heavy Weapons, there’s little that can stand in your way. The Colossus also boasts a strong shield, able to block incoming fire and take massive amounts of damage from enemies. It can do double-duty as a tactical and deadly weapon against foes, giving you the ability to shield-bash your enemies while sprinting, flying, or up close and personal in melee combat.

In terms of abilities, this javelin has two Assault gear slots and one Support:

Ordinance Launcher – High-Explosive Mortar, Lightning Coil, Burst Mortar, Shock Coil, and Firewall Mortar

Heavy Assault Launcher – Heavy Rocket, Flame Thrower, Flak Cannon, Venom Spitter, and Railgun

Support Gear – Battle Cry and Shield Pulse

Even packs of enemies won’t stand a chance against your artillery. Unleash destruction from your two shoulder-mounted launchers. If any enemies are left standing, use your heavy assault launcher to finish them off. Finally, Battle Cry will make sure all enemy eyes are on you, and you can use Shield Pulse to boost your squad’s defense and help keep yourself and your buddies in the fight.

Now it’s time to discuss this javelin’s ultimate ability. Siege Cannon fires three devastatingly powerful shells at your opponents. Each explosion packs quite a punch, removing multiple enemies in an impressive series of explosions. During your ultimate, the Colossus will be completely immune to damage, allowing you to quickly eliminate enemies and restore your health. 

There are multiple options for powerful combos while piloting the Colossus, but one example of an extremely effective one is using a combination of Flame Thrower and Lightning Coil. Light up your enemies with the Flame Thrower to prime them, and then activate your Lightning Coil to detonate. This will trigger damage on the target as well as creating a huge area of effect explosion, dealing damage to all nearby enemies. For more information on using combos, see our Advanced Combat Guide.
