This week, we introduce the GDI Grenadier, which uses EMP grenades to slow down enemies. Read on for tips, tricks and counters to master this new unit.
Specialized infantry equipped with EMP grenades
The Grenadier has been a common sight in GDI armies since the very first Tiberium War. The modern Grenadier Squad is equipped with stielhandgranate-style grenades for increased range and an EMP charged payload which can slow down even the largest enemy ground vehicle.

Deployment Tips:
As an anti-vehicle specialist, the Grenadier deals damage to any vehicle they come across. They also have a lot of utility with their EMP grenade. Use the EMP grenade to slow down vehicle’s movement and attack speeds, giving you an edge in the battle.
Without the speed and mobility of the Jump Jet Troopers, the Grenadiers are better suited for attacking and holding platforms rather than early harvester harassment. The Grenadier has no answer for aircraft, so try to shore up this weakness by pairing them with units such as the Rhino, Pitbull or Wolverine. These units can keep the Grenadiers safe from aircraft or infantry, leaving them to focus on any ground vehicles.
Counters:
Grenadiers have no defense against aircraft so send in Talons or Venoms to take them out. While they deal damage to infantry, their EMP grenades are only effective against vehicles. If the enemy is fielding Grenadiers, use Shockwave Troopers or Chemical Warriors. They will deal massive damage without losing attack or movement speed.
If you need to send in ground vehicles, send multiple units at the same time. The Grenadier will either need to alternate attacks so the EMP affects each unit, or focus on only one enemy unit, allowing the other unit to attack unimpeded.
