GRID Legends, the game for racing thrill-seekers, launched on February 25 for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. With a blockbuster story mode in Driven to Glory, an entirely overhauled multiplayer, a brand new Career mode, over 120 vehicles from the world of motorsport and so much more, global media were keen to sing the game’s praises.

Ahead of launch, media and Creators got hands-on with early versions of the game, showcasing some of the key features GRID Legends has to offer.

December saw them experiencing the game for the first time. In January, we showcased GRID Legends’ thrilling story mode - Driven to Glory - with a detailed gameplay Premiere. Finally, just before launch, the focus switched to Multiplayer which included a look at the game’s revolutionary ‘hop-in’ feature; giving players the opportunity to jump into live races, eliminating the need to wait for races to end before getting in on the action.

Now that GRID Legends has been released - what’s the verdict?

Games journalists shared how much they enjoyed their time with GRID Legends, with multiple reviews scoring the game 8/10 or higher. One example was from Game Tyrant, who said that “[GRID Legends] is the racing title we’ve been waiting years for,” before giving the game a score of 8.5/10.

GameGrin shared a similar sentiment; “A return to arcade, a return to the docks, a return to drifting and a return to putting fun above all else. This is what GRID should be about,” scoring the game 9/10.

Eurogamer noted that GRID Legends is “remarkably handsome” and “puts fun above all else.” That word, fun, kept appearing in reviews with Gaming Nexus saying; “...there is a mountain of fun to be had with this rock-solid arcade racer.”

RacingGames.GG said that GRID Legends is an “early contender for 2022’s best racing game,” whereas Hardcore Gamer were keen to put the game above all others in the series by proclaiming that it’s “the best GRID to date.”

Rock Paper Shotgun said that GRID Legends is “The most playable mass-market track racer in years,” and on Driven to Glory, GamePur put it perfectly by saying; “The narrative story not only feels fluid, but it’s easy to understand, regardless of whether you’re an avid racing fan or not.”

If you haven’t given GRID Legends a go for yourself - what are you waiting for? There’s a 10-hour trial available right now for EA Play subscribers and EA Play Pro members can download the full Deluxe Edition.
