Top Five Reasons to Play Ewok Hunt on October 23

A new hunting ground is coming to Ewok Hunt in Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II.

Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II’s tense and asymmetrical game mode Ewok Hunt (if you want to know more on what it is and how it’s played, jump this or that way) is updated with a new location on Endor on October 23*, and we’ve gathered the top five reasons why it’s a perfect fit for this time of the year. Cozy up and read all about it below.

But first – just for a moment – put yourself in the shoes of a stormtrooper, as the night has fallen over the vast forests of Endor. Alas, you’ve somehow fallen behind your squad. The others can be heard somewhere in the distance. There! Erratic flickers bouncing off the trees, searching. It’s got to be them. Your own flashlight, mounted on the trusty blaster in your hands, grip hardened, is running out of battery. Better catch up.

Evac better arrive soon, too.

A sharp, hollow sound breaks through the enclosing ambience of the forest. It’s answered by another one. Battle horns. That’s not good. Not good at all. You barely have time to think “Blast ‘em!” before red bolts zip frantically from your team’s position. It goes on for ten, maybe 15, seconds. Then, full stop. Silence.

It doesn’t take long until you distinguish movement through the forest floor vegetation hurrying towards you. Flashlight’s giving up. Darkness closing in. You look around in desperation. Breathing heavily. Wait, is that the Imperial base? That’s the Imperial base!

You make a run for it, but you realize that the gates have been shut. You put your back against the wall – aiming the E-11 to where you just came from, readying to defend yourself with everything you’ve got.

If that wasn’t enough to put you in the mood, here are, as promised, the top five reasons why you should play Ewok Hunt this October 23:

1. We’ve Added a New Location

When the Ewok Hunt game mode launched in April of 2018, it launched on a modified version of Endor from Star Wars Battlefront (2015). The latest location is also set on Endor – it makes for a perfect setting, because Ewoks and all – but this time around, it’s based on what you’ve played in Star Wars Battlefront II’s Galactic Assault.

2. It’s Actually Quite Terrifying Sometimes

Ewoks might have an endearing appearance at first glance. Furry. Modest size. But they’re also spear-wielding, Wistie-throwing, and unpredictably feisty. They fight in packs and have dotted their home turf with traps. The stormtroopers might have advanced weaponry, but add the cover of night, and the odds are evened out.

Plus, if a flashlight happens to beam across an Ewok’s eyes, they’ll light up. Nightmare fuel.

3. An Experience Unlike Anything Else in Star Wars Battlefront II

Don’t worry too much – it doesn’t have to be THAT scary. It’s an ounce of spookiness here, and a sprinkle of coziness there. A pleasant mix of tricks and treats, if you will. Trekking the forests of Endor at night evokes that same feeling.

The ambient sounds and visuals of Endor, the glowing fires of the treetop village above, the forced first-person view when playing as a stormtrooper – it all adds up to a truly immersive experience. Bring a friend or two!

4. Hey, I Like What You’ve Done to the Place!

These woods might be familiar, but some time has passed since the battle in Galactic Assault, so the place is not without its unique flair. The Ewoks have reclaimed the walker bay where an AT-AT used to be housed and set up huts to be able to access the roof of the compound. Watch out for surprise attacks, stormtroopers!

Also, on the other end of the map, the Imperial base has been overrun and closed off, with no way to fall back into defense position. As if the psychological terror wasn’t already on a high note for the poor troopers.

5. You Get to Play as an Ewok

This might be an obvious one but, really, where else do you get to live out your Ewok warrior fantasies? Embrace it! Sound the battle horn, sharpen your spear, dive attack from the canopy of the forest, and burst out in a celebratory “Yub-nub!”

Feels good, doesn’t it?
