Update 41 - French Romance

Ever been confused about how to best earn Simoleons? Wondering what to do with a few unassigned Sims? Our upcoming update releasing on 28th April introduces the Community Market—a vibrant new location inspired by local farmers' markets where you can garden, meet Sims, and trade with them to earn heaps of Simoleons in your spare time. You can find it on the town map, right next to the Park along the riverbank. You can find it on the town map, right next to the Park along the riverbank. It's ready for everyone to use straightaway, no building required.

How does the Community Market work?

Many of you may recognize Patty Cakes, a familiar face who has returned to town to open the Community Market. Here you'll find her market counter. A one-stop shop where all Sims place grocery requests. From here, you can see which garden items your customers (AKA various Sims) are after, and how many Simoleons you will earn by fulfilling their orders all at once. Some might only be after a few tomatoes, while others might be after a whole shopping list of ingredients!

Initially, you’ll only have one customer at a time, but, if you keep fulfilling orders, you'll see more lining up for your Sims to work on. Everything is grown fresh right in front of their eyes, just like a cute community garden! Additionally, it’s never been quicker to grow things.

Are there any changes to the core game because of this?

In order to pave the way for this new and exciting experience, we’ve had to make some changes to how gardening works for Sim households. Garden Patches will now be available once you’ve completed the ‘Money Grows on Trees’ Progression Quest, and will now only support growing Simoleon Sprouts, Life Point Lotus, and Social Point Flowers. All other vegetable items have been removed, and will now be placed and grown in the Community Market.

However, to enable players to continue decorating and creating amazing gardens and crops of their own, we’ve created brand new, fully grown versions of each vegetable, which can be placed in house lots from the ‘Trees, Plants & Flowers’ section of the Home Store, and will unlock alongside your player level. These new plants look a lot nicer, and no longer have big bubbles floating above them when fully grown, so this makes your Sims’ houses look more aesthetically pleasing!

How does Community Market help me earn more Simoleons?

Previously, gardening required your Sims to grow plants for long periods of time, which meant players lacked the flexibility to use Sims for multiple purposes throughout the day. On top of this, Simoleon rewards earned through Gardening were relatively low. To solve this, the Community Market has reduced the time required to grow most goods and provided a new way to earn more Simoleons, the more you play! Let’s dive into an example to show you how.

For example, if you were gardening at level 7 previously, growing 4 pieces of corn would award 148 Simoleons, and take 20 minutes. A common Community Market request for the same amount of corn may earn you around 540 Simoleons, but only take 5 minutes to grow. The Community Market Simoleon rewards will continue to scale with your level in the game.

Anything else I need to know before I get started?

Everything you collect at the Community Market goes into the storage shed - the red shed that’s next to the garden patches. Be careful though, as there’s limited space in the shed to store all that delicious produce!

Occasionally, famed DIY Homes star Bree may appear as a customer, and offer coveted Upgrade Tools instead of Simoleons. These tools let you increase your storage shed capacity so you can store more produce and complete more requests more easily!

What about plants and seeds I had growing previously?

For players who had unclaimed vegetables, or had stored gardening seeds in your inventory in the previous update, you’ll automatically get any XP or Simoleons you would’ve earned via an Inbox message gift!

In summary,

Whether this is your first time visiting SimTown or you're a seasoned player, filling orders at the Community Market is the best way to earn Simoleons when you need them. This is also a brand new feature to the game, and we're committed to making it the most fun and rewarding way to earn Simoleons. We would love to hear your feedback so we can continue to improve it over time!
