Celebrating a Milestone Year for EA SPORTS

It’s been an amazing year for EA SPORTS. From HUGE launches that brought exciting new experiences for more than 300 million fans, to our social impact initiatives that supported communities around the world, to the incredible work of our passionate global teams – we are in a strong position across EA SPORTS, and we're equally excited for all that's to come.

So, as we look forward to 2024, we thought we’d first reflect on the milestones and advancements that led us to where we are today. Take a look at some of our highlights below!

OUR BIGGEST LAUNCH SEASON YET

This year, we celebrated the worldwide release of EA SPORTS PGA TOUR, EA SPORTS Super Mega Baseball 4,  EA SPORTS F1 23, EA SPORTS Madden NFL 24, EA SPORTS FC™ 24, EA SPORTS NHL 24, EA SPORTS UFC 5, and EA SPORTS WRC – with the number of releases marking our biggest launch season in EA SPORTS history!

Highlights from our launches include:

  • Ushering in a new era of The World’s Game with the release of EA SPORTS FC 24, which saw 1.6 billion games (including Ultimate Team™ Moments) played across 200+ countries around the world in the first 24 days alone.

  • Delivering cutting-edge technology across our games, with stunning realism and fluid mechanics in EA SPORTS PGA TOUR; dialed up pressure, physicality, and control with EA SPORTS NHL 24’s Exhaust Engine; EA SPORTS UFC 5 powered by the Frostbite engine for the first time in franchise history, paired with its new Real Impact System; the use of FieldSENSE™ and new SAPIEN Technology in EA SPORTS Madden NFL 24 on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S and PC; HyperMotionV translating the rhythm and fluidity of real-world football into EA SPORTS FC 24 on PS5™, Xbox Series X|S and PC; and EA SPORTS WRC’s dynamic handling system – to name a few.

  • Dialing up the immersion, connectivity, and authenticity for our players, including adding over 200 real-life baseball legends to EA SPORTS Super Mega Baseball 4; introducing a brand new edition of the popular ‘Braking Point’ story mode in EA SPORTS F1 23; bringing players together through cross-play; and giving them the ability to customize gameplay with Ultimate Team and Career Modes within several of our titles.

…And much more!

SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITIES

Our deep commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and supporting the communities in which we live, play, and work are ongoing priorities for EA SPORTS and EA as a whole. In 2023, our teams continued to make an impact in our communities by volunteering, giving back, hosting community events at our studios, and introducing initiatives to help grow the love of sports worldwide.

This year, we invested in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) education through non-profit partnerships, programs, and financial support. This includes community partnerships with organizations like Vancouver-based Ethọ́s Lab – a non-profit that empowers youth to transform community and shift culture through STEAM - where we sponsored and co-created a game development program, hosted studio tours and on-site programming, and provided mentorship.

Additionally, our annual Get in the Game STEAM summer camp in Orlando uses video games to connect and engage students – particularly rising 11th and 12th-grade young women and non-binary students in Central Florida – in leveling up their coding skills and getting an inside look at video game development through coaching and mentorship from EA SPORTS dev team members. Furthering our support, we also launched the EA Madden Scholarship and Education Legacy Fund, which awards 24 annual, renewable scholarships with Historically Black College and University partners and UNCF, and supports four non-profit organizations focused on STEAM education among underrepresented youth, respectively.

EA SPORTS continued our commitment to growing the game of football for all through volunteering and supporting ongoing initiatives with our community partner, Hope and Health – a non-profit organization that helps maximize the power of sport to empower Indigenous youth – and through FC FUTURES, our plan to meaningfully invest in community-level football on a global scale through product innovation, community investment, and partner initiatives across the foundations of football. Already, we’ve introduced FC FUTURES ACADEMY, our new, online library of training practices using drills from EA SPORTS FC 24, in development with UEFA; partnered with leagues and federations to support the refurbishment of pitches around the world; and collaborated with LALIGA to provide essential football equipment – including more than 10,000 balls – to schools and academies across Spain.

These are only a few of the ways we gave back this year, and we look forward to more opportunities to make a difference in our communities in the coming year and beyond.

A PASSIONATE GLOBAL TEAM

These achievements could not have been possible without our talented and passionate EA SPORTS team members who are constantly raising the bar, leading in innovation, and collaborating across the organization – all with the goal of championing a new culture of play and creating world class sports games.

With 2500+ developers working in over 14 locations across the globe, our teams are made up of diverse individuals who work to deliver amazing experiences for our players, make an impact in-game and in real life, and bring fans even closer to the sports they love. And we couldn’t be more proud of all they’ve accomplished.

It’s been a fantastic year, and we can’t wait to share what we have in store for 2024!
