A Plague Tale: Innocence follows Amicia and her younger (and mysteriously gifted) brother, Hugo, as they’re hunted by Inquisition soldiers and surrounded by unstoppable swarms of rats.

The soldiers are imposing, but the thrills and chills surface as you desperately search for light to turn back what can feel like an ocean of sharp-toothed, unrelenting rats. The world is bleak, but as long as you have your brother and a torch by your side, there’s still hope.

INSIDE

Some of the scariest games are subtle. INSIDE, the hit indie title from LIMBO creator Playdead, doesn’t pour buckets of blood over your head or place skeletons along your path. INSIDE simply follows a lonely boy as he delves deeper and deeper into a dark, unsettling factory hiding a project from the world.

Traverse through flooded rooms, a seemingly abandoned city, and tight, underwater tunnels as you hope to discover a difficult truth. INSIDE isn’t your average haunted house, but few games can make you feel more unsettled and alone than this dark indie darling. 

Batman: Arkham Origins

Everyone knows at least one person in their life who’s dressed up as Batman for Halloween, so why not just become the Caped Crusader himself as he battles Bane, the Joker, Black Mask, and many more iconic villains? 

Sure, the game might be set on Christmas Eve, but dark and thrilling moments abound as a young Batman is hunted by eight of the deadliest assassins the DC Comics Universe has ever seen.
