• Passchendaele Map: All You Need to Know

    What is Passchendaele?

Passchendaele is one of the maps for the fourth and final expansion, Battlefield™ 1 Apocalypse. This expansion focuses on the most brutal and cataclysmic battles of the Great War.

Where and when is the map set?

The map features the Battle of Passchendaele – Flandernschlacht, as it’s known in German – which took place around the city of Ypres in Belgium in late 1917.

    What armies are available?
The British Army and German Empire are the opposing forces for Passchendaele.

What are some of the map’s strategic locations?

The British starting flag, the Zonnebeke Church, features some of the few standing fortifications across the blasted wasteland that makes up this map. The Vienna Cottage area has a few stray walls still standing for cover, but don’t expect a cozy reception. Most of the terrain advantage here comes in the form of a few ridges which can force the enemy into a literally uphill battle, but no positions remain safe for long in the smoke and fog of the battlefield.

What makes Passchendaele fun and challenging to play?

While the chaos and fire of Passchendaele may not make for an enjoyable vacation spot, it does make for excellent infantry combat. Remaining vigilant, moving quickly from point to point, and using teamwork are all winning strategies in a map with limited vision and no air support. May the best squad win.
