How to Play Solo and in Squads in Firestorm

Find out the benefits of going it alone or with a squad.

Westie will give you the tips you need to be the last one standing, whether you’re playing Battlefield™ V: Firestorm solo or in a squad.

It’s up to you how you want to take on this challenging mode – though going it alone may not always be the best option. There are definitive advantages to squadding up: more firepower, better flanking opportunities, and so on. But if you want all the glory for yourself, solo is the right choice.

Going in Together

Start by clicking the Firestorm tile in the multiplayer menu. If you’d like to play in a squad with your friends, join or create a group of four and then the squad leader can choose the “Play Squad Mode” button to begin. If none of your friends are available, just choose the “Play Squad Mode” button and the game will matchmake you into a random squad automatically. Clicking the “Skip” button that appears after you select “Play Squad Mode” will bypass matchmaking and send you into Squad Mode all alone.

When playing in a squad, communication is incredibly important. Enabling VOiP is highly recommended, but not mandatory. There are ways to work together without voice communication; for example, during the beginning of a round you can pin a location on the map to show your squadmates where you’d like to jump to. Try to make sure that a location will have enough loot to share – making sure everyone on your squad is well-supplied with Ammo and Healing Syrettes in particular is vitally important. Even sacrificing a secondary weapon to a squadmate can mean the difference between success and failure in a gunfight.

Individual playstyles can lead certain players to want to scout ahead for resources or enemies, while others may stick close to the group. If you’re not the squad leader, it’s probably a good idea to follow their orders, however.

Objectives are extremely important in Firestorm, and as a squad you have a much better chance of capturing them and securing their loot than you would on your own. A squad gives you the flexibility to keep at least one member on the lookout for approaching enemies, helping to ensure your success.

Going in Alone

If Solo Mode sounds more appealing to you there are some differences to be aware of. At the beginning of a round you can be more decisive about where to drop, what loot to hang onto, and where you want to go as you avoid the ring of fire. Objectives will be far more difficult to capture as it takes more time to do so, but the loot payoff can be massive.

Vehicle Lockups become a much higher risk as it will take twice as long to open them, and you won’t have anyone watching your back as you do so. However, be aware that vehicles are squad-based with distinct positions for driving/piloting and weapons. You’ll need to be very good at seat switching to make the best use of them.
