FIFA 23 | Pitch Notes - FUT Chemistry Update
August 2022
The Pitch Notes
Last month we shared a Pitch Notes article revealing all the new additions to Ultimate Team™ in FIFA 23.
Today, we’re giving an update on Chemistry Redefined, revealing the launch tuning and going into more detail on Chemistry Styles within our new system. With FUT 23, our aim is to increase squad variety to enable more diverse teams, make squad building easier and to remove common pain points.
CHEMISTRY REDEFINED: UPDATE
Here’s a quick recap of the new Chemistry system being introduced in FIFA 23:
- Players can earn up to 3 Chemistry Points by having players of the same Nationality/Region, League and Club in your Starting XI.
- Positional links have been completely removed, and your Players can now link regardless of their position on the pitch.
- Players have preferred and alternate positions.
- Overall Squad Chemistry has been removed, so you only need to focus on building individual Chemistry for each player.
- We’ve removed the negative impact to Attributes caused by low Chemistry, so players will always play with at least their Item’s Attributes.
- The Loyalty system has been removed.
EARNING CHEMISTRY
Adding players to your Starting XI of the same Nationality/Region, League and Club will earn Chemistry by reaching thresholds. The cumulative Chemistry thresholds at launch will be as follows:
1 CHEMISTRY |
2 CHEMISTRY |
3 CHEMISTRY |
|
CLUB |
2 players |
4 players |
7 players |
NATIONALITY/REGION |
2 players |
5 players |
8 players |
LEAGUE |
3 players |
5 players |
8 players |
You will only need one additional player from the same Club or Nationality/Region to unlock the first point of Chemistry. Matching both Club and Nationality/Region will gain 2 Chemistry.
CHEMISTRY STYLES
Chemistry Styles will continue to allow you to increase sets of Attributes on your players. The amount that an Attribute is increased by will depend on the Chemistry of that player. The higher the individual Chemistry on a player, the higher their Attribute increase can be.
The tables below show the Attribute increases for each Chemistry Style at 3, 2 and 1 Chemistry for both outfield players and goalkeepers.
= High increase
=Medium increase
= Low increase
Here are the Chemistry Style increases for Players at 3 Chemistry:

CHEMISTRY IN-GAME & SUBSTITUTIONS
Players who are substituted into a match will play with no Attribute increase from the Chemistry system. Keep in mind that in FUT 23, negative Attributes have been removed, so even at 0 Chemistry, players will perform at their base Attributes.
Furthermore, once a FUT match has started, any changes made via team management to formations, tactics or player positions will not affect the Chemistry of your Starting XI players.
In case you missed it, check out all the other exciting additions coming to Ultimate Team in FIFA 23 in the Deep Dive, and Pitch Notes.
Our goal with Chemistry in FUT 23 is to help make building your Ultimate Team easier, and we can’t wait to see what squads you build with the new Chemistry system.
