If you missed Battlefield 4 on Origin Game Time the first time around, we’ve got some good news: The game is back, and now you can try it for free!
If you’re new to Battlefield 4, you can add Battlefield 4 to your library and play for 168 hours. That’s a full seven days to experience all that Battlefield 4 has to offer. Downloading Battlefield 4 won't count towards your 168 hours of free time. The Origin Game Time clock won't begin until you’ve launched the fully-downloaded game for the very first time.
But don’t forget, Game Time's a real-time clock. Whether you’re playing single player, multiplayer, in menus or taking a break from the action, the Origin Game Time clock will continue to run once it’s started. Origin will keep you posted with in-game alerts to let you know how much time you have left.
If you decide to pick up Battlefield 4 on PC after your Game Time ends, your progress will carry right over. Just add the game to your Game Library.
But while you can wait to play, you might not want to wait long.
Until November 10th, all Battlefield 4 players – including new Game Time recruits – will receive double XP. Have friends that are higher in level than you? No sweat! Just follow our quick tips below and you’ll catch up in no time.
Tip #1: Know your role. Any class can unleash a hail of bullets, but smart players utilize their class’s specialty for maximum experience gain.
Engineer: Keep that Repair Tool handy. When playing on a large map with vehicles, hitch a ride as a passenger and keep your vehicle in tip top shape. Doing so racks up huge points. This works particularly well in helicopters, as you can repair them while riding along.
Assault: Don’t let the class name fool you – playing Assault is just as much about reviving and healing your teammates as it is engaging in firefights with the opposition. Keep handing out those health packs and you’ll rank up in no time. Also, quick tip: when using your defibrillators to revive fallen teammates, wait for them to charge to 100% (you'll hear a beep when this happens) before using them so you give downed players 100 health upon revival.
Support: Ammo is the basic building block of intense, all-out firefights. And you, Support players, are the suppliers of ammo. Keep your teammates’ ammo supplies healthy and you won’t be wanting for XP.
Recon: Tag, tag, tag. By default, the ‘Q’ button on your keyboard marks enemy players, highlighting their positions to all nearby allies. While you’re waiting to land the perfect headshot, why not tag your opponents and help your team out?
Tip #2: Play in a squad. In addition to your primary team, you can also join a sub-team called a squad that contains up to five players. Assisting your squadmates, specifically, earns you even more XP than you’d gain from helping out non-squad teammates. Every little bit counts!
Tip #3: Stack XP Boosts. Items called Battlepacks can be unlocked either by purchasing them, or simply by playing Battlefield 4. Open these, and you’ll be awarded various special items, including temporary power-ups called XP Boosts. These do exactly as their name implies; better yet, they stack with Double XP events, so use ‘em if you got ‘em.
Remember, this Game Time is for new recruits only – if you played Battlefield 4 the last time it was available with Game Time, you won't be able to redeem this one. But if you're looking for an excuse to join the battle for the first time on PC, this is the perfect opportunity.
Now get out there and show everyone what you’re made of.
See you on the Battlefield!
