EA Summer Pathfinders Recap
Meet Our Summer Pathfinders Class of 2019

The intern season was in full force this summer, and the time has flown by before our eyes. As this year’s intern class head back to school, they bring with them weeks of learning, mentorship, friendships, and new experiences.
Each year, EA welcomes 10 bright, young interns onto our corporate campus in Redwood City, CA for our 12-week Pathfinders internship. The Pathfinders program is designed for STEM college freshmen and sophomores from underrepresented backgrounds to get an early, real-world experience in technical fields. Our goal is to showcase work and foster mutual learning for these students in a great tech environment at EA!
As we wrapped up this summer’s class, get to know some of the amazing interns we had the privilege of mentoring.

Fast Facts:
Role: HR IT Intern
School: University of Cincinnati
Major: Information Systems & Marketing
I am a fourth-year student at the University of Cincinnati with a passion for gaming and diversity & inclusion. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve wanted to work in the gaming industry, so naturally working here was an incredible opportunity for me. I was able to learn about various aspects of working in my dream industry, such as what goes on in the game development cycle and how some of the front and back processes of a gaming company work.

Additionally, the culture here is a very open, welcoming one that truly champions innovation and creativity even beyond gaming. I was able to attain lifelong mentors and friends through my time here and learn as much about EA and the gaming industry as I could fit into 12 weeks! Overall, this was an incredible internship and I hope that many others can have a similar experience in the future!

Abby Moss
Fast Facts:
Role: Data Science Intern
School: Smith College
Major: Computer Science, Data Science
As a rising sophomore at Smith College, I’m still exploring my love for computer science. This summer was my first internship and I had a great time working at EA. I love being able to build something from scratch and the feeling you get by solving a hard problem.

As a Data Science Intern my role is to find insights from large amounts of game data. For my project I worked on creating a machine learning algorithm that groups together visually similar games from game play screenshots. By doing this, EA can look at what types of art styles we currently offer in our portfolio. EA can then use this information to broaden the types of games we make in order to cater to even more players.

Fast Facts:
Role: UX Design Intern
School: Ringling College of Art and Design
Major: Motion Design
I am a junior studying at Ringling College of Art & Design, and very passionate when it comes to spreading my knowledge and love for design. My goal is to explore the boundaries of design and technology, and how that in tandem can lead to incredible new discoveries. Besides design, I am always trying to expand my horizons, in terms of learning new subjects and technologies.

During my internship, I was able to immerse myself in a wide range of resources and technologies that I wouldn’t have been able to experience anywhere else. The inclusive culture that is established here allowed me to not only talk to the most incredibly kind people that you will ever meet, but also to learn about a variety of different subjects and fields of expertise with ease.
