Kick Off Your Character Creation With Detailed Customization

Cranium Technology is designed to empower you to create your diverse self, or a different personality altogether, and this commanding player creation tool debuts in EA SPORTS FC 25.

There are four pillars of technology that make up the Cranium package, each with their own innovations working behind the scenes to give you control over your avatar’s model.

Sculpting

Want your avatar to look just like you, or someone totally unique? Either way, you can easily mold your character’s head to match your vision.

Sculpting lets you arrange a head model to fit your desired likeness. The tech here is called FB Morph, allowing for a simple setup of meshes to work with blend shapes inside the Frostbite engine.

Basic Sculpt parameters like upper forehead width, eye socket depth, and jaw position will give you a strong starting point when designing your player. Advanced Sculpt sliders, including skull width or temple size, allow you to fine tune these details and express your true self.

Movement 

Once your avatar looks the part, Rigamate and GPU Deform technologies work to create natural facial animations like smiles or frowns. Then, ANT (Animation ToolKit) makes your character’s head movements believable and fluid in their environment.

The movement technologies behind Cranium help support your character’s facial expressions for moments like celebrating a goal or arguing a yellow card.

GPU Deform previously shipped on EA SPORTS FC 24 to help support the team’s believable character goals, and now it’s included within the suite of tools that make up the Cranium package.

Textures

Fine tune your pro with complexion, scars, and other texture controls. These features are generated in the runtime, and the Sports Tech ATG (Advanced Technology Group) built a technology called the Cryo Texture Compositor to make it all possible.

With Cranium Technology, the possibilities for recreating yourself are endless. Your avatar will look as detailed and unique as you desire, making them stand out on the pitch.

User Interface

The intuitive and fun user experience makes it easy for anyone to dive in and start creating with controls that feel natural. Adjust sliders, choose presets, or tweak your character’s face directly with the Cranium Technology character creation UI. 

Rime ECS, a system used within the Frostbite engine that provides tools for UI development, is the UI technology you’ll interact with as you sculpt your superstar in EA SPORTS FC 25. Rime ECS is aimed at enhancing the flexibility and efficiency of UI development, which means we can bring you more powerful options when interacting with the head model creator.
