Release Recap

Superstar KO Reward:

This week’s Superstar KO reward was Calais Campbell (RE, 86 OVR). Now a Baltimore Raven in his 12th NFL season, Campbell definitely beefs up this Ravens theme team. Campbell may have flown under the radar in the beginning of his career, but he’s made six of the last seven Pro Bowls. He’s both a sound pass rusher and an asset in run defense. Get Campbell by forcing 2 fumbles in the Superstar KO Campus Legends Event.

Team of The Week:

LTD:

(WEEK 1): 9/09/2018 | Steelers vs Browns | Final Score: 21-21 | Stats: 6 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles.

Heroes:

  • Priest Holmes (RB, 91 OVR)
    • One of the great running backs of the 2000’s, Holmes was an absolute stud for the Kansas City Chiefs. Between 2001-2003, Holmes tallied 6,566 yards from scrimmage and 61 touchdowns. Those are not typos… he averaged 20 touchdowns a year for three seasons.
  • Rodney Harrison (SS, 91 OVR)
    • Harrison was a staple on the early-2000’s New England dynasty. He clocked 14 NFL seasons and was equally formidable as a ballhawk and bruising tackler.

Player of The Week:

  • Chandler Jones (LOLB, 91 OVR)
    • Ohhhhhh, MAN did Jones put on a show in week one! The edge rusher registered five sacks and two forced fumbles against the Tennessee Titans. Jones has looked like a man amongst boys since joining Arizona, totaling 60 sacks in his four full seasons. He’s rocking 92 power and 88 finesse moves respectively. This Jones item will unabashedly terrorize opposing quarterbacks.

Elites & Golds:

Wildcard Wednesday: Rising Stars

  • Patrick Surtain II (CB, 90 OVR)
  • Zach Wilson (QB, 89 OVR)
  • Travis Etienne Jr. (HB, 89 OVR)
  • Jaylen Waddle (WR, 89 OVR)
  • Divine Deablo (SS, 89 OVR)

LTDs

  • Stefon Diggs (WR, 92 OVR)
  • Marcus Peters (CB, 92 OVR)

Legends

  • Curtis Martin (HB, 92 OVR)
    • Martin put the league on notice right away. He finished his rookie campaign in 1995 with 1,748 yards from scrimmage and 15 touchdowns. What separates the good running backs from the great ones, though, is how they age. We all know of the supposed running back “cliff” age of 29. Martin impressively defied that, finishing his age-31 season in 2004 with the Jets with a career-high 1,942 scrimmage yards. Martin is sixth on the NFL’s all-time rushing leaderboard.
  • Roy Williams (FS, 92 OVR)
    • Your Dallas Cowboys theme team just got even scarier. Williams played eight NFL seasons with the Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals after an illustrious college career at Oklahoma, where he earned the nickname “Superman.” Williams missed most of the 2008-2009 seasons with injuries, but in six seasons he totaled 20 interceptions and 10 forced fumbles. On the field, Williams moved around a ton. He was a capable pass rusher in addition to his coverage roles as a safety. The dimension Williams adds to your MUT defense is incredible. He’s a chess piece you can move around the whole field.

TJ’s Top Five: Theme Teams

*Ducks can*

Alright, I know theme teams are *dodges tomato* controversial.

However, I’m *dives egg* going to attempt to compile my favorite theme teams.

As always, thanks to the homies at https://www.mut.gg/ for accessible roster compilations.

5. Baltimore Ravens: Adding the 86 Calais Campbell gives this defense a solid boost. Good luck running on Campbell, Marcus Spears and Brandon Williams clogging up the middle of the field. There are some question marks in the receivers room, with 89 Sammy Watkins standing alone as the alpha. However, those concerns are assuaged by Darren Waller, Mark Andrews and the electric dimension Lamar Jackson brings to a team.

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The Bucs theme team right now is rock-solid. Nobody really jumps off the screen as a game-changing weapon, but when you combine the individual talent it turns into this magical theme team elixir. The wide receiver trio of Jordan Shipley, Joey Galloway and DeSean Jackson is undoubtedly elite at this point in the game. Defensively, this squad follows a similar pattern. The cornerback group, headlined by Philip Buchanon and Darrelle Revis, is special. Rocking a Bucs theme team might not be sexy, but it’ll definitely win you some games.

3. San Francisco 49ers: Find a weakness on this theme team… I’ll wait. Whether it’s Trey Lance (85 SPD), Reggie Bush (91 SPD), Jerry Rice (92 SPD) or George Kittle (86 SPD), anyone facing someone rocking this maxed out theme team is in for a tough matchup. To say the offense might not even be the best part of this team, too, is scary. DeForest Buckner, Nick Bosa and Kevin Greene are three of the best pressure-generators in MUT right now. A fully-loaded Niners theme team is downright formidable.

2. Seattle Seahawks: This offense is … explosive. Russell Wilson’s at the helm, but Shaun Alexander is a human truck stick. Both he and Mike Davis are 89 OVR and offer a classic one-two punch in the backfield. The pass-catchers are where this theme team gets scary. Jerry Rice (92 OVR) Brandon Marshall (91 OVR) Joey Galloway (90 OVR) Jimmy Graham (90 OVR) David Moore (89 OVR) and D.K. Metcalf (84 OVR) make up an unfathomably robust group of pass catchers. Bobby Wagner and Jadeveon Clowney lead the way for the Seahawks theme team defense. The only reason their number two is because my favorite theme team edges them out on the defensive side of the ball.

1. Las Vegas Raiders: The Raiders theme team features two of the most electric playmakers in the game right now: Darren Waller and Jerry Rice. Matt Leinart isn’t turning many heads, but he’s a 90 OVR and more than capable of feeding his studs. The group of defensive backs is impressive as well, and will give any passing attack a good fight. 92 OVR Mike Haynes, 90 OVR Philip Buchanon, 89 OVR Casey Hayward Jr and 85 OVR Charles Woodson are begging for some nickel and dime packages. Oh, did I mention Khalil Mack and Warren Sapp holding down the line of scrimmage?
