MTashed takes you through unlocking blueprints, gathering materials, and generally optimizing your crafting in Anthem™.
Unlocking Blueprints
Using gear and weapons to complete Challenges will give you direct access to blueprints. These blueprints fall into the following rarity categories:
The Challenges you’ll need to complete to unlock each blueprint will depend upon its rarity. So, for example, an Uncommon weapon blueprint may require you to kill 50 enemies, but a Rare one may require you to take out 25 elite enemies. As the rarity increases, so does the difficulty of the Challenge you’ll need to complete.
If you want to unlock the best blueprints for the weapon you love, you definitely can, but until you increase your level you probably won’t have access to enough embers (a by-product of the Anthem of Creation that can be found throughout the world and dictate the rarity of the item you’ll craft) to use your rarer blueprints.
Gathering Materials
There are four primary ways to gather materials, detailed below.
Open-world resource gathering – locating plant and mineral resources that you can harvest or shoot to gain chimeric resources (alloys and compounds that have been altered by the Anthem of Creation used in all crafting recipes) and embers.
Taking on Challenges – daily, weekly, and monthly Challenges reward different amounts of resources and are a great source for materials. The Challenge system is also a good place to gain consumable crafting blueprints (items capable of boosting your stats for a limited time).
Salvaging – dismantling unnecessary or undesirable gear for a particular javelin will give you access to multiple parts for that javelin and an equivalent rarity-level ember. For example, if you dismantle Epic gear, you get an Epic ember.
In the Crafting Shop – this is a place to find the materials that can be purchased with earned in-game Coin. They are not available for real-world currency.
General Crafting Tips
A good place to start is by crafting gear to fill all slots with the best options possible. Another option is to craft your favorite gear multiple times until you get the best inscriptions (randomly rolled stat boosts and bonuses that can further enhance your build) possible. Remember, a well-rolled item can be drastically more powerful than a poorly rolled one. If you want to tackle higher difficulty Challenges, you’ll need a weapon strong enough for the task.
Consumables fall into the same rarity levels mentioned above and require several embers to craft. They also provide powerful bonuses, and can be equipped at the following levels:
So, at level 30, just as you’re facing some seriously tough endgame content, you can craft up to three consumables and apply them before entering a Stronghold. Their strength will, of course, depend upon their rarity, but even a lower level consumable can increase your offensive or defensive capabilities significantly. However, they only last for one mission so make sure that you save them for your most difficult expeditions.
