Describe yourself and your background.
I was born and raised in Miami, Florida and influenced by my Peruvian and New England heritage. Since a young age, I had a passion for creating games and sharing them with the communities around me. Besides programming, I also love the art, music, and design aspects of game development.
How do you think this internship will help you on your career path?
This internship, software engineering on the Frostbite engine, will allow me to learn techniques and processes for working on a large-scale project. I am excited to take my C++ to the next level, and work closely with my mentors at EA Tiburon.
What are you studying and why?
I’m a Junior studying Computer Science at Georgia Tech with concentrations in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Graphics. I’m currently interested in designing and implementing large systems that require elegant software engineering. Outside of class, I pursue an extracurricular education of side-projects and reading articles and books, improving my knowledge of game engine architecture and C++.
What about a career in STEAM is of interest to you?
A career in STEAM requires individuals to collaborate across different fields, combining technical skills with creativity. In game engine development, design of features and pipelines must be created with programmers as well as designers in mind. That team diversity makes working on STEAM projects fun and rewarding.
What do you hope to gain from your internship at EA?
I am looking forward to collaborating and learning from other team members to make an impact on the Frostbite engine. As my first real step in professional game development, I wish to learn how to navigate a Triple-A work environment and learn techniques that will help me on my career path.
What makes EA a great opportunity and unique place to advance your career journey?
My career goal is to create innovative game technologies that will lead to never-before-seen player experiences. I’m excited to work on the Frostbite engine and contribute towards its mission to develop deep and dynamic worlds and ultra-realistic game characters.
Tell us something we don’t know about you.
I’ve created over a dozen games on which I was lead artist and programmer, meaning I’m decent at 3D modelling, pixel art, vector art, and animations.
