The Battlefield 1 Incursions Alpha is transitioning into the Battlefield 1 Incursions Community Environment. We’ve asked producer David Sirland to explain what this means, and to detail the work being done on the experience. Read on to learn about the future of competitive Battlefield.
First of all: what is Battlefield 1 Incursions?
Simply put: it’s Competitive, the Battlefield way. Heavily leaning into our core pillars, including vehicles, destruction and class gameplay – but with a twist and several limitations to create a strategic and teamplay oriented game mode.
Our community is also excited by the netcode - have a look at this video from community member Battle(non)sense:
What has happened after the Battlefield 1 Incursions Alpha?
The Battlefield 1 Incursions Alpha is now transitioning into the Battlefield 1 Incursions Community Environment. In this more expansive phase, we’ll allow anyone to register for access, and expand the player base as we keep developing and iterating on the experience. This will lead to more games played, better regional coverage, and finally: a large enough player pool to support the new features coming soon. No further action required if you’re already in the Alpha – you’ll see the name change with today’s update.
How do I sign up for the Battlefield 1 Incursions Community Environment?
Simply head to the Battlefield 1 Incursions page and register. If you are outside the current regions supported, rallying more of your friends will help you – this is how we look into what regions to expand support into next.
Who can sign up for the Battlefield 1 Incursions Community Environment?
Anyone who hasn’t already signed up. The environment is open for registration to all players that own a PC and can run the game *. We hope to see many players sign up in order to deploy a lot of servers and to hear varied and helpful feedback.
What did you learn from the Battlefield 1 Incursions Alpha?
The first focus of the Alpha has been testing the general concept of 5v5 with vehicles, and get our matchmaker up and running. Several weeks of iteration on the Matchmaker flows to get into games have propelled us into a good space, and we are ready for the upcoming period of expansion.
There has been a ton of great feedback on the map, the kits, balancing, and more. We’ve listened and improved based on this to tweak the experience. For instance, the Hellriegel is no longer part of the Raid Leader kit, the A versus C side on the map is now on equal heights to create a much more balanced battlefield, and more.
What changes to the environment will the Battlefield 1 Incursions Community Environment update bring?
You can expect a major overhaul of the Giant's Shadow map and the Demolition Driver – a Vehicle Operator kit with increased mobility and shorter vehicle respawn timers, sacrificing sustainability. We are also looking into how spotting works and will be testing a new system for this. We look forward to your feedback on how you feel about it. Spectator Mode is also added with this release; a feature that we will continue to improve on in various ways.
Stay tuned for more info on the Battlefield 1 Incursions Community Environment. Don’t forget to sign up and see you on the battlefield!
