What is Fort de Vaux?
Fort de Vaux is one of the maps of the first Battlefield™ 1 expansion, Battlefield 1 They Shall Not Pass and depicts the initial big engagement inside a fort during World War 1.
Where and when is the map set?
Happening during the Battle of Verdun in 1916, Fort de Vaux takes place during a German raid of a heavily-guarded French fort. Down in this maze of dark galleries and wet stone corridors, you’ll fight ferociously with grenades, guns, bayonets, and flamethrowers.

The French and German Army are the opposing factions on Fort de Vaux.
What game modes can I play on Fort de Vaux?

What makes Fort de Vaux an entertaining map to play?
With confined spaces, the maze-like fort interior, and the fact that vehicles aren’t part of the equation, Fort de Vaux is quite a unique challenge. Learning about your surroundings is vital to success; know where key areas like the central courtyard and the generator room are, how to quickly reach them, and where enemies tend to hide. Is there any particular class that’s more suitable than others on the map?
All four classes – and many different play styles – will be good choices when spawning in on Fort de Vaux. In the confined spaces, shotgun-wielding Assault players will do well, and Medics will get plenty of healing opportunities when teams clash in the fort’s chokepoints. Outside, Scout players can take advantage of the open areas, and you can make good use of the Support’s Light Machine Guns and Ammo Packs on all parts of the map.
