Player Ratings Update: Week 10

Russell Wilson pulled another rabbit out of his deep bag of tricks, Lamar Jackson and his Ravens ran roughshod over the Patriots defense, and the Miami Dolphins tallied their first victory of the season.

Now, it’s time to get down to business and highlight some of the biggest risers and fallers in the Madden NFL 20 ratings ahead of Week 10 based on what went down in NFL stadiums across the country. In case you missed it, our guy Cameron Magruder recently shared his thoughts on the Madden 20 midseason ratings in a format only he could deliver.

The best running back in the NFL produced yet another stellar stat line in Week 9. Christian McCaffrey averaged 6.1 yards per rush on his 24 attempts for 146 yards, added 20 receiving yards, and found the end zone three times against the Titans. He’s now rushed for well over 100 yards in three of his last four games and leads the NFL in rushing touchdowns with 10. McCaffrey has already improved his OVR by five points from 91 to 96 in Madden 20, and is due for yet another lift this week.

When we get an opportunity to say something positive about the Miami Dolphins in the year 2019, we take advantage. And Ryan Fitzpatrick took advantage of the Jets secondary last week, slinging his best game of the season with 288 yards passing and three TDs. It was Miami’s first win of the season, and after slipping in the Madden 20 ratings earlier this year, Fitzpatrick has earned his second bump this month after his performance against the Jets. 

The veteran workhorse back deserves some love after an impressive showing against the Jaguars in Week 9. Carlos Hyde racked up 160 yards on the ground on his 19 carries (8.4 yards per carry). He nearly found the end zone, too, but the football was punched out of his grasp at the 1-yard line. Despite the turnover, it was still a performance that the Madden Ratings Adjustors took note of, thus Hyde will see a ratings increase heading into Week 10.

In what should have been a get-right matchup against the Dolphins, Jets QB Sam Darnold failed to step up, throwing for 260 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Darnold has struggled mightily since his healthy return in Week 6 with a 3:8 TD:INT ratio over his last four outings. As a result of his recent struggles, the Madden Ratings Adjustors are dropping Darnold yet again ahead of Week 10.

A week after earning some high mid-season praise from Pro Football Focus, Redskins corner Quinton Dunbar was absolutely burned by Bills receiver Cole Beasley for a touchdown in Week 9. Dunbar might be having a great season, but the film doesn’t lie, and the Madden Ratings Adjustors simply cannot ignore it this week.
