The Unique Strategy of Battlefield Hardline

What’s the optimal route to choose in Hotwire? Which exits should you cover playing Heist on the Bank Job map? With five all-new multiplayer game modes, please two returning favorites, there are a lot of new tricks to master in Battlefield Hardline – some of which we’ve covered in a previous post.

We’d like to touch upon what new strategic challenges Battlefield Hardline will bring, and how our gameplay design philosophies look like. First though, we hand over to Ben Gaciu (Software Designer) and Zach Wilson (Senior Level Designer) who will give you the lowdown in this developer diary:

You’ll feel right at home in Hardline if you’ve tried out any previous Battlefield game, but you will also notice some differences. For instance, an overall smaller map size cranks up the pace in multiplayer and brings a new energy to the whole experience. You’ll feel the heat, believe us.

You’ll also get to experiment to find the optimal use for your hi-tech toys. Gadgets like the Grappling Hook and Zipline lets players get around the maps faster than ever, and this requires a different approach to the (often vertical) maps.

You’ll need to think on your feet in single player too - but the pace also slows down from time to time, letting you use stealth maneuvers and survey your surroundings. The single player exclusive Scanner gadget lets you scan and analyze the bad guys to score priceless intel (and points), and even eavesdrop on their chatter.
