A Midnight Meal

On a chilly Halloween night, three friends decided to explore the old, abandoned courtyard at the edge of town. Rumor had it that the place was haunted, and they were eager to test their courage.

As they stepped through the stone archway into the courtyard, the air was thick with dust and the scent of forgotten memories. Cobwebs clung to fallen tree branches, and the cracked cobblestones wobbled ominously under their feet. They noticed a soft flickering light in the far corner, tucked away behind the arched pillars that surrounded the perimeter. Past the pillars on the outskirts of the courtyard, they stumbled across an old bistro eerily more lively than its surroundings. 

The bistro was an impressive display of black and deep plum colors, exuding a gothic elegance. A deep purple table runner adorned the ornate tables, which were covered in velvet cloth, as if waiting for a feast. The table was set with gleaming gold cutlery, rich floral arrangements, and accompanied by glass pumpkin candles that cast a warm glow, enhancing the mysterious ambiance. To their surprise, the shimmering gold dinner plates were laden with an array of delicious-looking dishes—roast turkey, creamy mashed potatoes, and a pumpkin pie that smelled divine.

Startled by the unexpected setting, the friends hesitated. An air of mystery enveloped them as they gazed at the dramatic table setup, their minds swirling with questions about the bistro’s secrets. Though intrigued, the friends decided to sit down, drawn by the enchanting atmosphere. They immersed themselves in the experience, absorbing the bistro’s history and the lingering presence of spirits from the past.

By the time they finished, the bistro no longer felt haunted but instead filled with warmth and stories of the past. The friends walked home, their hearts full and their fears replaced with the warmth of a mysterious but delightful Halloween feast.
