Grassroot Great items will have improved chemistry, giving 2 points in Club, League, and Nation.
Each nation's Grassroots Great ICON or Hero embodies the essence of its local football culture—whether that be emerging from the lower leagues, carving a path through overlooked opportunities, or redefining the grassroots spirit in their own unique way. Diego Maradona
Diego Maradona is back. Log into FUT between Feb 14 – March 14 to claim a free 77 OVR Maradona, which can be evolved up to 89 OVR. Grassroots Greats 96 OVR Maradona will also be available in packs from Feb 14 - Feb 21. Once the Grassroots Greats version of Diego Maradona leaves packs, the base ICON Maradona will be available in packs.
77 marks the moment Maradona made his international debut at 16, against Hungary, on 27 February 1977, only four months after his professional debut for Argentinos Juniors.
Diego's Dream
The soul of Argentina is back in Football Ultimate Team. Celebrate the return of Diego Maradona with Diego's Dream, a new free Evolution.
Players will be granted a 77-rated Maradona item and will be able to turn him into an 89-rated item with the choice of three unique final evolutions, allowing you to design a Maradona item to fit your squad!
You can choose between improving Maradona as a CAM, splitting through balls with an Incisive Pass+ Playstyle, an unstoppable ST who unleashes goals with his Powershot+ Playstyle, or turning him into a tricky winger cutting through defenses with the Technical+ Playstyle.
You can also take your Grassroot Greats Evolution Maradona even further with the 'El Pibe de Oro' paid Evolution, upgrading him to a 92-rated item with a Finesse shot+ Playstyle and other additional upgrades.
