eChampions League Finals: 3 Things We Learned
Read our three big takeaways from the eChampions League Finals.
May 30

The eChampions League has finally concluded, with German superstar Jonny lifting the trophy in front of a jam-packed audience in London, England.

Even though the competition is over and a champion has been crowned, there’s still plenty to talk about from the Finals. Here’s the three things we learned from the eChampions League Finals.

Triple Champ

It’s been an incredible year for SC Paderborn 07 player Jonny as he smashed his way through the competition in the eChampions League.

The 19-year-old FC prodigy had already dominated the Virtual Bundesliga by winning the VBL Club Championship and VBL Grand Final. Now he’s added the eChampions League trophy to his resume after winning all of eight games to secure a $75,000 cash prize.

With the eChampions League secured, can the talented German make it a quintuple of wins in 2024 by securing the FC Pro World Championship in his home country of Germany in July?

There’s got to be something in the water in Germany because the level of elite talent coming out of the country is simply outstanding.

Jonny and Levyfinn had a Virtual Bundesliga Finals rematch during the eChampions League Finals. Although Jonny was unable to dominate Levy to the same level he did during the VBL Finals, he was still a level above his opponent in most areas.

That being said, there’s a chance for Levy to gain some sort of revenge as they’ll both be competing in the FC Pro World Championship.

Teammate vs Teammate

Other than the Final itself there was one match that the FC community was very excited for and that was the game between PSV Eindhoven duo Manu Bachoore and Emre Yilmaz.

A matchup between a former eChampions League champion and a former World Champion made this quarter-final encounter a must-see bout for fans watching. Any fears of the competition being a stalemate were quickly thrown out as the two comrades went toe-to-toe.

Eventually, Yilmaz would come out on top after a breathtaking game that had plenty of twists and turns.
