Emre Yilmaz Q+A: "Fans should expect chaos"

Emre Yilmaz is no stranger to the eChampions League, having won the competition back in 2023 with a resounding 6-4 victory over HHezerS in the final.

Following a runner-up finish in the eDivisie Finals, Yilmaz secured a chance to win the eChampions League in back-to-back years.

We sat down with the Dutchman to talk all things eChampions League as he looks to lift the trophy for a second time.

How does it feel to be back in London for the eChampions League?

“It feels amazing to be back, especially after winning the tournament last year. It feels like a very nice tournament for me, but I’ll have to defend my title from last year. I’m really excited to compete again.”

Do you feel as if having the experience of winning it last year will help you this year?

“I know from last year that if you want to win this trophy then you’ll need to beat everyone. I think I played every good player before I won the tournament last year. I missed no-one out [when I had to play against in eChampions League 2023] so if you want to win this trophy you have to beat the best."

As you’re the reigning champion, do you feel as if there’s a target on your back amongst the other competitors?

“I don’t know because I think there are other better players than me. I think there are many players with more trophies. You almost have to forget what happened last year as it’s a new tournament for everyone.”

What’s the main thing that you’ve taken from competing in FC Pro competitions this year?

“I got more experience competing in LAN events because of competitions like the FC Pro Open. It’s a lot of mental pressure because you have to remain calm and stay focused, so that’s what I’ve been able to learn this year."

What should fans look forward too when watching you compete?

“Fans should expect many goals and much chaos.”
