FC Pro 2025: Need to Know

With the new season of FC Pro just around the corner, we want to provide a list of important information and changes to the Official Rules that you’ll need to know to set yourself up for success!

FC Pro Open Additional Slot

With Anders Vejrgang securing himself double qualification into this season of FC Pro Open, we need to qualify an extra player from the FC Pro Open Global Qualifier.

To achieve this, the losers of the Lower Bracket Round of 2B in each group with the best goal differential will be placed into a 4 player, single-elimination bracket to decide who will be moving on to FC Pro Open as the 17th player. These matches will be played after all other group-stage games end on November 3rd. This player will be seeded into the same group as Vejrgang.

Formations

With the introduction of the overhauled tactics system in EA SPORTS FC 25, there will be no banned formations in FC Pro. Much of the feedback around formations, including 3 and 5 at the back, has been taken into account in the design of the new system and we believe this will best serve our players in choosing their style of play.

Shooting

Precision Shooting made its debut in EA SPORTS FC 24 to give competitive players more control over their shots. For the upcoming season of FC Pro, we’re making the use of Precision Shooting mandatory in all official matches and it will be automatically enabled in the FC Pro game mode’s settings.

Match Length

Just like last season, we are continuing to play all FC Pro official matches with 9 minute halves. We introduced these extended match halves with single leg play last season and felt they provided a better overall experience within FC Pro, so they’re here to stay for the foreseeable future.

Offline Events

All in-person competition will take place using the Direct option in the FC Pro game mode. Last season, we switched between data centres and Direct which created different expectations per event. With this, we will create a consistent experience from beginning to end.

Event Apparel

At FC Pro in-person events, all players and coaches must wear team/club attire while at events. In addition to this, shorts and open-toed shoes are not allowed to be worn at the event venue. We want to create a more professional environment for all FC Pro competitors and their clubs, and we feel this change helps us to work towards achieving that.

Squad Building Restrictions

We’re ready to release the squad building restrictions for the online competitions taking place before the FC Pro Global Qualifier, as seen below:

  • Up to one (1) ICON

  • Up to one (1) Hero

  • Up to two (2) non-ICON or Hero items above 90 OVR

  • All other items must have an OVR of 89 or below

  • Restrictions apply to both the starting 11 and substitutes and do not apply to the goalkeeper.

  • An additional Hero may replace an ICON in any squad.

  • An additional non-ICON or Hero rated 90 OVR or above may replace a Hero in any squad

  • Competitors may use Loan Items in their squad.

Prizing

With the increase of participants this year in our FC Pro Open competition, and an additional FC Pro Open Cup, we’ve slightly updated the prizing for all of our FC Pro Open competitions for EA SPORTS FC 25, seen below. The overall prize pool remains the same at $1,000,000 but allocations have shifted.

League Partner competitions

FC Pro deeply values the global nature of the esport and the sport the game celebrates. We look forward to welcoming many of our football league partners back and integrating them even deeper into the FC Pro ecosystem. We are anticipating over 30 leagues will host esports competitions at the domestic level to find national champions and send their very best onwards to the FC Pro World Championship.

This season, the primary competitions of our league partners will take place between February and April. Keep an eye out for announcements from your local league in the coming months.

FC Pro World Championship

The second FC Pro World Championship will be held in Summer 2025, where a new World Champion of EA SPORTS FC 25 will be crowned. The top four players from the FC Pro Open and 28 finishing players from the league competitions around the world will come together to compete in one event.

The FC Pro World Championship will be a standard group stage to single elimination tournament for 32 players. More details about the FC Pro World Championship will be available in the new year including dates, location, and ticketing information.
