FC Pro Open | 3 Storylines from Match Week 6

Match Week 6 of the FC Pro Open was a thrilling spectacle, as five of the world’s best EA SPORTS FC™ players competed fiercely for a spot in the FC Pro Open Finals, scheduled for Saturday, February 1st, at 4 PM GMT.

The three coveted spots were claimed by Vejrgang, Nicolas99fc, and LJR Peixoto, who delivered exceptional performances throughout the event. However, the week also brought a major shock as former World Champion ManuBachoore failed to secure a place in the next stage, marking a surprising end to his tournament journey.

Here are the major storylines emerging from Match Week 6 of the FC Pro Open:

Victorious Vejrgang

FC Pro World Champion Anders Vejrgang is set to return to the FC Pro Open Finals next month after a gruelling battle to claim the top spot in Group B.

Unlike his dominant run in the FC Pro World Championship, where he went undefeated from the Group Stage to the Finals, this journey was far more challenging. After Match Week 2, the Danish star found himself in second place, just a single point behind his arch-rival ManuBachoore.

However, Vejrgang raised his game in Match Week 6, delivering standout performances while ManuBachoore struggled to recapture his previous form. This shift not only secured Vejrgang’s place in the next stage of the competition but also earned him an invite to this year’s FC Pro World Championship, where he will have the opportunity to defend his title.

Bachoore or Bust

Many had high expectations for Team Gullit’s ManuBachoore to advance to the next stage of the FC Pro Open, especially following his impressive performance in Match Week 2.

However, by the time Match Week 6 arrived, the Dutchman seemed like a completely different player. It appeared that his opponents had devised effective strategies to neutralise his once-potent offence.

Starting the week at the top of the group with 11 points, ManuBachoore managed to add only six points, finishing with a total of 17 points—not enough to secure a qualifying spot. Meanwhile, the other players in the group surged ahead, leaving the former frontrunner trailing in their wake.

Return to form

Nicolas99fc looked unstoppable during Match Week 6, delivering an ice-cold performance that will undoubtedly put his fellow FC Pro Open competitors on high alert.

The Argentine star hit his stride early, securing commanding victories over AboFawzi, ManuBachoore, and LJR Peixoto. However, it was his draw against Vejrgang that stood out as his most impressive showing of the night.

Facing the reigning FC Pro World Champion, who had been dismantling opponents with ease, Nicolas99fc rose to the occasion. He not only held his ground but showed that Vejrgang won’t have an easy path to victory against him.

With both players advancing to the FC Pro Open Finals, this could be the start of an exciting new rivalry between two of the best EA SPORTS FC™ players in the world. Fans will be eager to see if their paths cross again on the biggest stage.
