The FC Pro World Championship Group stage was as thrilling as many EA FC fans expected, as 32 players were whittled down to 16 elite FC competitors. Here’s our recap of the biggest moments from the Group stage.
Upsets Galore
Several favourites to win the FC Pro World Championship were knocked out during the group stage, creating shockwaves in the FC community as some of the sport’s biggest names could not make it to the next round.
Some huge names were forced to exit early, including FC Pro Open winner PHzin, LaLiga FC Pro champion Nicolas, ePremier League champions Tekkz and Bonanno, and many more. Although some established names failed to make it to the Knockout stage, we witnessed the beginning of some new stars being born.
Ajax’s Max Koelemaij made a name for himself with two spectacular wins against Tekkz and Abu Makkah during the Group stage. Despite this being his World Championship appearance, the Dutchman was not overwhelmed by the occasion and had exceptional performances against two tough competitors to secure his spot in the Knockouts.
Victorious Vejrgang
Danish sensation Anders Vejrgang maintained his momentum from his spectacular win at the UEFA Euros with a dominant display during the group stage.
It was an impressive display from Anders, who quickly became one of the favourites for the tournament following a 6-3 win over Ekmenn94 and a 5-2 victory over Nacho Abella. Now he’ll take on fellow WOW Virtual Bundesliga player Jonny in a must-see game for all EA FC fans.
Morocco’s finest
Xcharifx might’ve entered the FC Pro World Championship as an unknown to many, but after his two stunning wins in the group stage, all eyes were on him after he defeated some huge names to make it to the knockout stage.
It wasn’t easy for him to make it this far in the competition, as he had to defeat top players like JP Sleator, Jorjewin, and Brandsha to top his group in the Play-Ins.
Two more victories in the group stage against Mark11 and K1John ensured his incredible journey would continue.
