GuiBarros vows goals at FC Pro World Championship
CONMEBOL eLibertadores Day 2
CONMEBOL eLibertadores Day 2

GuiBarros, who will be competing in Group A the FC Pro World Championship, has lived a remarkable life. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, he moved to Brazil at the age of 13. Although plenty of changes occurred in his very young life, one thing that has remained consistent was his love of playing EA SPORTS FC™.

“My first memory of playing EA SPORTS FC is watching my dad play the game because he’s always been into video games. I’ve always played career mode, so the game has been around me all my life.” he explained.

Much like many teenagers his age, GuiBarros spent the pandemic playing EA SPORTS FC™ with his friends. However, his decision to delve deeper into how elite players play the game turned out to be life-changing.

“The pandemic hit when I was around 16-17 and I looked at the more content side of EA FC™. I started to watch more videos about the game and found out more about the competitive scene.

“I’ve always loved competing, so when I found out they have EA SPORTS FC™ competitions I tried my luck and so far it’s worked out.”

South America is considered a hotbed for talent, producing some of the best EA SPORTS FC™ players in the world, including the likes of FC Pro Open winner PHzin, LALIGA FC Pro champion nicolas99fc, ePremier League champion Bonanno and many more.

With so many players all fighting for a chance to prove their greatness, GuiBarros’ journey to compete in the FC Pro World Championship was a difficult one.

“I guess I’m biased, but I believe that South America is the toughest region to qualify from. There are so few spots and so many great players. I think CONMEBOL eLibertadores had 16 spots for LAN and around 40-50 players who were at the required level to make it.

“We had two spots for the FC Pro World Championship and I believe that 10 of those players could’ve easily made it. The level of competition is just so high. Everybody is so close so it’s really tough.

He continues: “To be honest, when I started, I didn’t think I was better than a lot of them. My first year of competition, I didn’t compete for the whole year, I wasn’t really practicing so I didn’t do that well. It just showed me that if you really want to compete against these guys you have to work so hard because everyone is so good.

“I put myself as one of the best in the region, but it changes daily. Everybody works so hard and the top, top guys are so good, but it’s amazing to be competing in a place where almost all the top guys are friends so we all know each other.”

With his spot in the FC Pro World Championship secured, Gui’s main focus is taking the trophy back to Rio de Janeiro and ensuring fans see plenty of goals when he competes.

“Fans can expect to see a lot of attacking gameplay and a lot of goals from me when I compete. You’re also going to see real passion as I celebrate all my goals. This means a lot to me, so you’re going to see a lot of that when I play the game.”

EA FC fans can watch GuiBarros compete at the FC Pro World Championship on the EA SPORTS FC PRO YouTube and Twitch channels.
