It’s been a landmark year for PHzin so far this season. Not only did he secure a history-making victory at the FC Pro Open in January, but doubled his trophy haul with a spectacular performance during the eDivisie Finals.

Next up for the talented Brazilian is eChampions League 2024 and, it’s safe to say, that he’s determined to add a third trophy to his already stacked cabinet.

Last time you were in London, you lifted the FC Pro Open trophy. Take me back to that night and what it felt like?

“It was a big dream for me to win a tournament like that. It’s the first FC Pro Open in history so for me to come from Brazil and travel to Europe to play is a huge honour for me. There are some great players competing so it’s amazing.

So being back in London brings back some good memories?

“It’s funny because I didn’t have good memories from being in London before. However, after winning the FC Pro Open I have plenty of good memories now. Now I want to create a good memory with the eChampions League now.

Your family was very prevalent when you were competing at the FC Pro Open. Do you feel more pressure when they’re there or less?

“They’ll be watching from home this time, but they’re always close to me. The FC Pro Open was a special feeling for me as I had my family there, so it was like a dream.

“Now I’m here and just competing by myself and my coach, but I always play for them even if they’re not with me. At the start of the eDivisie, my mum would come and watch me play, but I wasn’t playing well.

“The FC Pro Open was different because I had my brother, girlfriend and my coach with me. I feel really confident when my brother is with me, so it gave me an extra boost. I think when my mum watches me play I feel a little more pressure.”

All you’ve done is win this year. What’s the secret to your success?

“Honestly, there’s no secret to my success. Even if I didn’t win the FC Pro Open, the way I approach games would be the same.

“I always have a good preparation, which means I’m training a lot, analysing games with my coach. I’m always ready for these moments. I live for this, so I just train a lot as I don’t think it’s possible to win something with just talent.”

You could make history by winning the FC Pro Open, eDivisie, eChampions League and FC Pro 24 World Championship. How do you handle being so close to creating history?

“I’m always prepared for these moments. Last year, when I lost in the finals of the World Cup (against Mark11) I told them that I wanted more because it’s my dream.

“I had one more chance to succeed and I’ve won two trophies this year. Now I want to win the eChampions League and make history again because I can also be the first player to win the CONMEBOL eLibertadores and eChampions League.

“This is a big dream for me and I hope I can make it come true.”

There are a lot of incredible players competing in this competition. Which player do you think is the most difficult?

“I’d have to say my teammate Levi de Weerd. He’s in an incredible moment right now, he’s a fantastic defender and a top player.”
