Last year’s FC Pro World Championship had plenty of memorable moments, but very few could match the incredible run that xcharifx went on. Having advanced through the Play-In tournament and all the way to semi-finals - beating nicolas99fc, Mark11, and NathanSR99 - among others along the way.
“The FC Pro World Championship was the best experience of my entire life,” he explains. “Not only was it crazy for me, but it was crazy for the entire Moroccan community. It was the first time a Moroccan player had competed in a World Championship.
“Honestly, I wasn’t expecting to go to the semi-finals of the FC Pro World Championship. It was really something that was insane, especially with some of the matches I played. There was a game against NathanSR99 where I was losing 3-0 and came back to win 5-4. That was really something crazy and I’ll never forget that experience.”
His exceptional performance during the FC Pro World Championship caught the eyes of his Moroccan compatriots, who were vocal on social media throughout his time in the competition. The love that he received from his countrymen was clearly a huge motivator for him as he continued to advance.
“The support from the entire Moroccan community was something special. I’ve never seen anything like that in my life before. I was very happy and proud to see people reacting to my success. It was something really emotional for me and I’m so proud of what I’ve achieved.”
Despite last season’s success, xcharifx isn’t content with what he achieved. He’s determined to go even further and the first challenge is to ensure that he advances through the FC Pro Open Group Stage.
“This year, I want to do better than I did last season. I want to go much further than I did last season in the FC Pro Open and win the cup in the end. That’s exactly what I want to achieve. Also, after getting so close to winning the FC Pro World Championship last season, the only goal I have now is to win it.
“This competition is going to be so, so hard. There are good players from all over the world and I can play against any of them. That’s why I practice this game every day. It helps me maintain my level and ensure that I’m the best version of myself when competition day rolls around.“
