Need for Speed No Limits – Updated Visual Style of Our In-Game Material Icons

We have updated the visual style and improved the in-game Materials for NFSNL. Players will see that we have re-designed all 46 materials, all 6 car parts and several names throughout the game in order to give the players a more cohesive and “fantasy engineering” within the game.

Materials in the game were previously made up of:

    • 6 Parts (Engines, Nitro, Gearbox etc.)
    • 10 Generic Materials (Hoses, Batteries, Rubber etc.)
    • 36 Part-Specific Materials

Each of these categories had six rarities:

    • Uncommon
    • Common
    • Rare
    • Epic
    • Legendary
    • Black

    New Material

The new materials have been redesigned to be more abstract and simplified, not relating to real world components.

Engine and Gearbox parts have been renamed to Motor and Transmission.

    1. Engine - Motor
    2. Gearbox – Transmission

The 10 Generic materials have been renamed to work better with all parts:

    1. Mounts - Calibrator
    2. Clamp - Bolts
    3. Fastener - Connector
    4. Fuse - Lubricant
    5. Spring - Plating
    6. Gasket - Microchip
    7. Relay - Module
    8. Hose - Alloy
    9. Bearing - Regulator
    10. Battery - Carbon

The 36 specific materials have been renamed and ordered by part and by rarity. The naming system works on an ascending ladder:

    • Common - Segment
    • Uncommon - Component
    • Rare - Mechanism
    • Epic - Kit
    • Legendary - Core
    • Black - Scanner

    Icon Design

You will see, the icons have been designed and simplified to present clearer and increase memorability and legibility.

Each part has a clear colour palette which is matched in their respective icons.

Icons build up in complexity and detail from segment to core.
