UPDATE TO CATCH-UP PACKS

Introducing Dynamic Catch-Up Packs and Car Sets for Vol. 6-9

Need for Speed™ Unbound

F1 2021 Header

What’s up NFS community?

We wanted to take a moment to introduce you to Dynamic Catch-Up Packs and Car Sets - the new way the Speed Pass “catch-up” offers will work for Vol. 6 content and beyond, and explain how they work.

The nature of the changes made to the Speed Pass system in Vol. 6 required an update to how Catch-Up Packs will work moving forward. There are no changes to the existing Vol. 2-5 Catch-Up Packs, but Vol. 6-9 will work a little bit differently.

In Vol. 6, we introduced the Premium Speed Pass as the singular ticket for accessing premium content within the volume when it launches. Moving away from our first-year model of a free Speed Pass complemented by premium DLC (Custom Packs and Swag Packs), we've now streamlined content access through the Speed Pass progression alone. This setup includes:

  • 45 Free Tiers: Available to all players, ensuring everyone has opportunities to unlock content.
  • 30 Premium Tiers: An optional upgrade within the Premium Speed Pass, offering additional exclusive content.

We made this change in order to focus on our efforts. It meant that we’re able to not only deliver better quality content in the Speed Pass, but provide meaningful new gameplay for everyone, for free, in each new volume.

Additionally, each volume guarantees the delivery of at least two cars:

  1. One car accessible through the free Speed Pass track
  2. Another premium car instantly unlocked with the Premium Speed Pass

Our cars, which are fully customizable and by far the most valuable content we produce, represent a significant investment. Recognizing their value and importance to our community, it didn’t make sense to offer them under the same time-limited conditions as our purely cosmetic customization options and Rare Customs.

To maintain fairness, we've adjusted the Catch-Up Packs to reflect this point of view. Therefore, we’ve split the catch-up pack offer into two different options:

Dynamic Catch-Up Packs

What you get in the Dynamic Catch-Up Pack depends on whether or not you purchased a Premium Speed Pass during the volume.

  • Non-Premium Speed Pass owners: Instant access to the 45 tiers of content in the Speed Pass that were free to unlock during the volume - which includes the car that was available in the free track
  • Premium Speed Pass owners: Instant access to those 45 tiers, plus the 30 additional tiers of premium content from the Premium Speed Pass

We’ve intentionally kept the price on these packs low to make them as fair as possible for all players in varying degrees of Speed Pass progression and/or Premium Speed Pass ownership.

Price: $2.99

Car Sets

Each Premium Speed Pass includes a new premium car. While the customs and other customization parts in the Premium Speed Pass are time-limited, the car will be available for non-Premium Speed Pass owners to catch up on if they missed it.

Car Sets include the base car, plus multiple bodykits to fully customize them with.

Price: $4.99

Make sense? If not, here’s a chart

Your Feedback

As always, we will be paying close attention to your feedback about these offers and everything else that we’re doing in this second year of live service, in order to bring you the best NFS experience we can while offering optional premium content that’s valuable and fair. We actively monitor the community-run subreddit, and Discord channel. You can also reach us directly on Instagram and Twitter. As we detailed in our Y2 Roadmap Blog, your feedback this year is actively helping shape the future of the franchise. Thank you for being on this journey with us.
