The History
Winning last year's season series by a total of 2-0, the Sens will have to compete hard against the Avs in order to find the same level of success this year. The Avalanche have since added goalie Philipp Grubauer, giving them a solid tandem in net with Semyon Varlamov, with either backstop a great choice to go up against veteran Senators goalie Craig Anderson.
The Senators traded Erik Karlsson this offseason, leaving them without a captain and a big hole to fill on the blueline. Fortunately, their roster is full of up-and-coming talent, as well as a couple of skilled veterans like former Colorado Avalanche player Matt Duchene. Colorado has Ottawa's first round pick this year that was sent over as part of the Duchene trade, which is another detail that makes this an intriguing matchup. No matter what happens, this will be a fast-paced and exciting contest to play in NHL 19 as the teams face off for the first time this year.
