A Guide to Legends and Alumni in NHL® 19

Play with the all-time greats.

From Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, and Guy Lafleur to Paul Coffey, Chris Pronger, and Patrick Roy, all-time greats and hockey heroes can create classic moments in NHL® 19. Whether it's in online or offline modes, there are multiple ways to compete with or against these beloved players. From adding pieces to your fantasy roster in Hockey Ultimate Team™ (HUT), to challenging Dream Teams in Pro-Am and Draft Champions, get in the game to discover these powerful icons with some help from our guide to Legends and Alumni.

Top Teams Outside of HUT

Legends of the game can always be found in HUT; however, there are other modes where legend teams can be found. Assembling the best of the best on varying rosters, these legend teams are powerful and fun to play with. There are five different Legend Teams – here they are along with some of the most notable players on each team:

  • All-Time All-Stars
    • Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Guy Lafleur, Paul Coffey, Chris Pronger, Patrick Roy
  • All-Time Eastern Conference
    • Mario Lemieux, Guy Lafleur, Jean Beliveau, Denis Potvin, Phil Housley, Jacques Plante
  • All-Time Western Conference
    • Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Joe Sakic, Teemu Selanne, Chris Pronger, Chris Chelios, Grant Fuhr
  • All-Time Grit
    • Jeremy Roenick, Keith Tkachuk, Bobby Clarke, Chris Chelios, Ken Daneyko, Ron Hextall
  • All-Time Local Legends
    • Howie Morenz, Bob Nystrom, Keith Primeau, Wade Redden, Rod Langway, Gerry Cheevers

These star-studded clubs are available in Play Now and Online Versus, ready to take on any challenge you throw their way. Find them by selecting the “NHL Alumni Association” from the list of leagues in the team selection menu, and keep in mind that they're great choices for going up against today's All-Star teams.

In the World of CHEL Pro-Am mode, Dream Teams can be played in challenges that are unlocked once you have completed the first three categories of challenges. These once-in-a-lifetime teams also feature Legend and Alumni players competing for franchises they were once a part of. Take your create-a-character through these challenges, and earn customization rewards along the way.

Your Fantasy Roster

Over 200 Legend and Alumni players are ready to join your Hockey Ultimate Team in NHL 19, giving you the chance to build out your fantasy roster with a mix of today's hockey stars and yesterday's illustrious stars. Legend and Alumni players can be collected in HUT in the following ways:

  • Completing Sets
    • Make player items more powerful by trading them in with the specified items, levelling up your item to Legend status.
  • Monthly Collectibles
    • Legends can be obtained by turning in Monthly Collectibles. You can get these in the Daily Log-in Pack and by completing all Daily Objectives.
  • Milestones
    • Some Legends are also obtainable as rewards for completing full Milestone groups.
  • Packs
    • Alumni player items can be found in any pack that contains the prospect of a gold player item.

With multiple ways to compete alongside Legends and Alumni, NHL 19 is the only place you can create hockey matchups you've always wanted to see.
