Hey Neighborville residents! Happy Holidays!
Since soft-launching Plants vs. Zombies™ 3: Welcome to Zomburbia back in January of this year, the team has learned so much about not only player expectations, but the way players interact with this version of the game. Community feedback and the data we’ve been monitoring has been invaluable in this process, and while strides have been made in the right direction, it’s clear we’re not fully meeting the expectations players have for this franchise.
After much consideration and many discussions, we made the decision to temporarily remove the game from both Google Play and iOS’s App Store. This was a tough decision, but we believe it’s the right thing to do that will give us the time we need to build the game we know players will love. The team has a clear vision and direction that we’re actively working toward right now - and we couldn’t be more excited!
As we reimagine PvZ3, it’s important to let you, our fans, in on some clear expectations. We’ve taken a step back to evaluate almost every aspect of the game. From its core mechanics to the way you’ll engage with its world, it’s important for the team to make thoughtful changes to better align with the vision we’re striving for. These updates can take time, and while we can’t share a precise timeline just yet, we’re committed to keeping you informed along the way.
Behind the scenes, every department is deeply engaged in shaping this next version of PvZ3. From narrative and design to art and beyond, we’re examining and refining every aspect to create an experience that’s engaging and fresh.
Each week, our team gathers for playtests of the latest builds, where we can test core features, evaluate the game’s flow, and identify areas for improvement and polish. This process isn’t just about individual teams working in isolation - it’s a collaborative effort where ideas blend across departments. Whether it’s a new mechanic, a reimagined narrative, or updated visuals or designs, every decision is being made with care and alignment to this shared vision. The result will hopefully be a game that feels stronger, more immersive, and truer to what we’ve always envisioned.
We want to take the PvZ community on this journey with us. While the team is actively working on this new vision, we’ll continue to share frequent updates (including our regularly occurring monthly blogs in the New Year!), let you know what’s going on behind the scenes, and most importantly: how you can continue to share your thoughts. We’ll be posting more frequent updates on our social channels, so be sure to turn on notifications to be the first to know! We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on!
Thank you again to our entire community for your continued support and passion for PvZ3. We’re committed to bringing you the best Plants vs. Zombies™ experience we can and appreciate the patience and dedication you all have shown. You are truly amazing!
Thank you as always, and…
Plant on!
