Release Recap

LTD

Heroes

  • Reggie Wayne (Colts WR - 93 OVR)
    • 1/05/2006 | Colts vs Patriots | Final Score: 27-20 | Stats: 138 receiving yards, 3 touchdowns.
      • Wayne kicked off a great slate of heroes this week, he was always absolutely nasty in the Maddens of the 2000’s. This item pays homage to Wayne’s performance in a Peyton-Brady, Colts-Patriots rivalry game.
  • John Abraham (Jets RE - 93 OVR)
    • 1/04/2001 | Jets vs Saints | Final Score: 16-9 | Stats: 5 tackles, 4 sacks.
      • As the Young Alge Crumpler, I definitely know about John Abraham! Abe was a staple on Atlanta’s defensive front during Matt Ryan’s younger days. I’d even say he was the Falcons’ last great pass rusher. This item is from a 2001 game, though, when he was a New York Jet. Abe came onto the scene fast, notching 13 sacks and six forced fumbles in 2001, only his second year in the NFL.

Legends Reveal

Jim Kelly (QB) - 94 OVR: Bills

Many people will tell you Jim Kelly is the best Bills quarterback of all time. He started 160 games across an 11-year career only with Buffalo. Kelly led them to four consecutive Super Bowl appearances (1990-1993) and although they never won, he’s unquestionably enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. A product of Pittsburgh, PA and The University of Miami, Kelly is Buffalo royalty and, as of tomorrow, a MUT legend.

Willie McGinest (RE) - 94 OVR: Patriots, Browns

If the New England Patriots had two dynasties, both under Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, McGinest was an integral member of the first reign. The six-foot-five defensive end and linebacker won three Super Bowls with the Patriots and was one of the feature players on their defense for much of the early 2000’s. McGinest played 15 seasons in the NFL, notching 86 total sacks. He also forced 16 fumbles, intercepted five passes and between those two feats, he returned four for touchdowns.

TJ’s Top Five: Budget QBs

Sam Darnold (85 OVR, Most Feared)

If you’re looking for an affordable option at QB who can stretch the field, hit most of his targets and is just mobile enough, this item does the trick. Darnold’s calling card is the 89 throw power, but with accuracies all between 79-83 he’s not a liability in the short game. His 75 speed isn’t phenomenal, but the 86 throw on the run does add a slight dimension of mobility.

Justin Fields (84 OVR, MUT22 Team Builders)

This item showcases some legitimate speed and throw power, and likely won’t run you much coin. Some of the accuracy ratings are what’s keeping this item affordable, but I guarantee you’ll have fun with this item at QB. You’ll keep opposing defenses honest, too. With an 87 speed, Fields could easily be your best runner, but the 88 throw power is downright dangerous. The 81 deep throw accuracy isn’t too shabby either.

Taylor Heinicke (81 OVR)

This item is about the cheapest you can get real speed at QB. Heinicke has shown flashes of impressive mobility this year in place of Ryan Fitzpatrick and those flashes are definitely reflected here. I’d be shocked if you found another quarterback with mobility ratings even close to Heinicke at a similar price. The 87 throw power is pretty sick too, but the accuracy ratings get dicey. Hey, if you’re looking for an uber-cheap option to keep your opponent on their toes, you can do a lot worse than this Heinicke item.

Teddy Bridgewater (85 OVR, Most Feared)

If you’re looking for a pocket passer and you’re on a budget, look no further than Teddy Bridgewater’s 85 OVR Most Feared item. This is the cheapest you’ll find an 85 deep throw accuracy, not to mention the 87 throw power and 87 short throw accuracy. The price you’ll pay for this accuracy is astoundingly low.

Cam Newton (89 OVR, MUT22 Flashbacks)

This item is on the other end of my logic for including Heinicke, as it’s likely the most costly item on the list. However, it’s still quite the bargain if you dig into the attributes. For starters, the 86 speed makes this item a threat for designed runs and easy pickups whenever there’s open space. The combination, though, of 91 throw power, 87 deep accuracy and 88 throw on the run makes this item downright lethal. This item may cost you a pretty penny compared to the others on this list, but I guarantee you’ll have fun rocking with the 89 overall Cam card.
