We cannot believe it has been 25 years since The Sims first reimagined the ways people play with life. What a ride it has been! We are so grateful for all of you, our wonderful community, whose passion and creativity have made this milestone possible. Since the game first launched in 2000, more than 500 million of you have joined the ranks of Simmers, showing us time and again that no one does life like The Sims.
We wouldn’t be here today without you, and this birthday is as much yours as it is ours.
There’s so much to look forward to in the coming months, and we can’t wait to share all of the treats we have in store!
The Sims 25 Hour Livestream
We’re kicking off the festivities with The Sims 25 Hour Livestream, beginning today, February 4 at 2pm PST / 5pm EST! Join us for 25 straight hours of fun, heartfelt moments, and a dash of mischief.
Tune in on YouTube, Twitch, or TikTok as we come together for one epic celebration of 25 years! Whether you've been with us since The Sims, like to dabble with MySims, or have thousands of hours in The Sims 4, we welcome you to join us for this virtual party. Celebrity fans including rapper and singer Doja Cat, rapper Latto ,and Drag Queen comedy duo Trixie Mattel & Katya will also be with us, making this an unforgettable event you won’t want to miss! Simmers can also look forward to appearances from a variety of fan-favorite Sims storytellers, builders, and streamers from around the world, including Angelo & Lexy, LoserFruit, Cristinini, Dan & Phil, Plumbella, SpringSims, Ironmouse, Ebonix, Krystalogy, Julien, Deligracy, Caryn & Connie, and many others.

The Sims 4 Base Game Update & Blast From The Past Rewards Event
We’ve got a special birthday present for The Sims 4 players: a huge free base game update with more than 70 new in-game items is available now!
We’ve got all-new Create-A-Sim options, including two new hairstyles, baby hairs added to three classic hairstyles, a new hairdo for Toddlers, and a goatee for those craving new facial hair options! In addition, players can dress their Sims from head to toe with new clothing options. There’s a new turtleneck and bodysuit, jackets, jeans, bike shorts, and so much more. And we haven’t forgotten about the accessories. Add some flair with a gold chain, a classy set of pearls, an athletic cap, or new shoes, including heels, sneakers, and sandals.
Can’t forget about Build Buy! You can now add stylish new windows and doors to your builds and new shaker cabinets for the kitchen. And kiddos can now enjoy a new Voidcritter version of their favorite pirate ship!
We’ve also got musical treats for your ears, with new songs in Simlish on the radio from popular artists, including Gigi Perez’s “Fable” on the Alternative station and Kim Petras’ “XXX” on the Pop station. In addition, you can unlock Keke Palmer’s “The Game Song” for the Retro station as part of the Blast From the Past Rewards Event!
Venture into Live Mode beginning today to participate in the limited-time The Sims 4 Blast From The Past Event, where a mysterious figure has blasted into town just in time and needs your help! Someone is “borrowing” from the past, and you’ll need to unravel the mystery through time.
The Sims 4 Blast From The Past Event features rewards that will take you back to the 2000s, like a milk carton, telephone, alarm clock, triple-tiered birthday cake, and inflatable chair and loveseat. For more information on how to participate in the event and earn rewards, check out the FAQ here.
The Sims FreePlay Birthday Update is packed with presents!
The party continues in The Sims FreePlay! We have a huge celebration inspired by the year 2000 to mark the 25th Birthday of the Sims franchise including:
- New Live Events: “The One with the Coffee Shop” and “Reality Island” will take you back to the 2000s, just like the velour tracksuit you’ll unlock.
- “25 Days of Gifting”: Daily gifts direct to your inbox, with franchise favorites from across the years.
- Social Town Update: Filled with homes, a helicopter, and a brand new museum packed with FreePlay nostalgia to explore.
Looking ahead, you will soon be able to enjoy a new enhanced lighting update, which will offer the option to create bright, airy spaces or cozy, dimly lit corners perfect for any vibe. The update launches in March 2025.
The MySims: Cozy Bundle on PC
We recently shared that the MySims: Cozy Bundle will be coming to PC on March 18, 2025! This retro re-release is currently available on Nintendo Switch and is now available for pre-order on PC. This charming bundle includes MySims and MySims Kingdom, where players can explore familiar worlds full of puzzles to solve, locations to discover, and fan-favorite characters like DJ Candy, Yuki, and Chef Gino to meet. And yes, there’s plenty to build, paint, and decorate!

A YouTube Yoodle, YouTube Shorts New Effect, and a Creator Challenge
YouTube has always been a central hub for Simmers to showcase, stream, and relive their creativity in The Sims. To celebrate today’s milestone, The Sims is teaming up with YouTube to spotlight The Sims community across formats on YouTube, from a new effect on YouTube Shorts to a long form video in partnership with lilsimsie and many more global Sims creators! Be sure to head to YouTube today to catch all the surprises in store – including a special transformation of the YouTube logo (known as the Yoodle). The power of two iconic symbols – the YouTube icon and the Plumbob – join together on our birthday for a special celebration of The Sims community on YouTube.

Plumbob Green with Pantone®
And, finally, we’re SO excited to share that we’ve collaborated with Pantone to create an official Sims color: Plumbob Green. At The Sims, we believe in the power of creativity, and this official Pantone color was inspired by the iconic green Plumbob, a vibrant beacon of imagination and artistry within our community and beyond. According to the Pantone Color Institute, Plumbob Green is a supercharged yellow-green imbued with vitality. A richly saturated hue, its animated appearance exudes a positive approach and upbeat attitude. The bold Plumbob Green invites a spirit of playful happiness.
