Meet Our Summer Intern - Jordan

Meet Jordan, a Security Engineer Intern, and learn how EA’s internship has given her the opportunity to explore a career in cybersecurity.

EA’s internship program provides great opportunities for students to start and grow their careers while cultivating their passions along the way. This summer, we welcomed our first-ever remote #intEArn class. Learn why Security Engineer Intern, Jordan, believed EA would be the right company to support her career aspirations.

Fast Facts:

  • Name: Jordan Green
  • Title: Security Engineer Intern
  • Field of Study: Computer Science/Information Systems
  • School: Johnson C. Smith University

Describe yourself and your background.

I was born and raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland. I took my first programming class during my senior year of high school. Since then, I have found a passion for Front End Development.

What are you studying and why?

I am studying Computer Science/Information Systems with a concentration in Cybersecurity. With technology advancing every day, cybersecurity plays an important role in every industry.

What drew you to EA?

While attending the Black Enterprise's Tech Connext at EA Austin, I was able to get a feel of what it would be like to work for this company. The tour provided me with insight into the company’s culture and values. Everyone was genuine. I knew given the opportunity, EA would be a company that supported my career growth and allowed me to come to work as myself. In addition to these things, I loved that every team found a way to interact with one another whether it was through a project or just grabbing lunch together.

How do you think this internship will help you on your career path?

This internship has given me the chance to explore what a career in security would look like. I have been challenged and taken out of my comfort zone numerous times. It has provided me with valuable tools needed to advance within the professional field.

What makes EA a unique place to intern?

What makes EA unique to me is how well the organization adapts and faces problems head on. EA has acknowledged that some topics may be uncomfortable to talk about, but conversations must be had. The supportive environment also makes EA unique. Everyone is willing to help however they can.

What was your reaction to EA’s call for a virtual internship following safety protocols for COVID-19? How have you leveraged some perks or benefits from this remote internship?

I was beyond ecstatic! Although I was not able to be in the office physically, I still feel as though I’ve gotten the full EA experience. One of the benefits of working virtually is being able to interact with other interns based in different offices. EA has done a great job making this transition while still providing a memorable experience for interns.

We acknowledge that you are interning during an international conversation on the systemic injustice, racism, and violence here in the United States. With that, it can be hard to bring yourself to work. What communities or conversations have you joined at EA to share your experiences or learn from others? Have you attended any events to further the conversation?

I am grateful to be able to have the support of various ERGs like BEAT! I made it a priority to join just about every community/support conversation that focused on these topics. I found a sense of comfort knowing that conversations like these were taking place within EA.

Tell us something we don’t know about you?

I love watching documentaries about natural disasters! I also enjoy watching YouTube videos of abandoned building exploration.

Learn more about our Next-Gen Talent program and apply to be a part of our next intern class.
