Khattafya: from Kuwait to the World
YouTuber Hesa AlKhataf talks about her journey, what drives her, and her thoughts on Battlefield V.

Kuwaiti national, Hesa AlKhataf, also known as “Khattafya” has loved gaming from a very young age. The game streamer is now one of the top female YouTubers in Kuwait, and for a good reason. Khattafya brings tons of energy, humor, and fun to all of her videos.
She also collaborates with her sister, Luwa, on a YouTube channel called AlKhattafSisters. The lifestyle channel with a strong following of over 1 million subscribers features the sister’s adventures, travel, hobbies, and challenges.
We sat down with Khattafya to hear about her journey, what drives her, and her thoughts on Battlefield V.

How long have you been playing video games?
I started at a very young age. I owned a couple of video games, but my actual journey in gaming began in 2016 when I started my YouTube channel, which was a major motivation and support for me to continue playing.
What factors motivated you to start live game streaming, and what attracted you the most to the world of gaming?
One of my friends constantly told me about her PlayStation. I didn’t own a Playstation back then, however, by the end of that year, I decided to get one. I can say that she was my first inspiration.
Have you faced any challenges getting in the gaming world as a female?
I faced multiple obstacles in the beginning, considering that other YouTubers have dedicated channels just for video games but they don’t show their face nor talk while streaming. It was something out of the ordinary for a female, especially in my region, to come out and offer something new and different to the gaming community.
What is your favorite game to live stream?
The Sims Series!
What do your family and friends think of you being one of the most influential personalities in the region, and of you being a streamer?
They are extremely proud and supportive. However, I find self-support and drive are the two most important elements for me as I consider that as self-motivation and it’s what keeps me going.
What’s the message that you’re trying to deliver to your community?
Even though gaming is a male-dominated space within my region, my message is that females can compete in the gaming world.
What are some of the most popular games in the Middle East currently?
Currently, it’s FIFA 19 and Fortnite.
What hopes do you have for the Middle Eastern Gaming community in the next 5 years?
I foresee a significant boost in the gaming community due to the major enhancement levels that gaming has reached. In-game interactions and graphics allow a more immersive environment and a better experience for the players.
What are you enjoying the most in Battlefield V?
The Squad Play. The team spirit that’s in-game gives me excitement. Also, the amazing game graphics, and the variety in choosing the character, uniform and appearance.
What is the most asked question when people find out that you are a streamer?
“How did you come up with this idea!?”
