EA’s Competitive Gaming Competitions Are Coming to BT Sport

FIFA Ultimate Team Championship Series to be Televised and Streamed on BT Sport Networks Across the UK for the First Time in History, Expand…

EA Competitive Gaming Competitions to Air on BT Sport

With five successful EA Majors now behind us, we’re excited to share that we’re bringing our competitions to even more fans around the world with a new agreement with BT Sport extending EA SPORTS™ FIFA across the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Pitting the best FIFA 17 competitors in the world, football fans will have a front row seat to the action watching competitors on BT Sport strive to become the ultimate champion, competing on both Xbox One and PlayStation®4 consoles. This additional exposure through BT Sport will increase the accessibility of competitive gaming, extending Electronic Arts (EA)’s mission of bringing virtual football to where millions of traditional football fans most consume content – on television. With this deal, EA SPORTS™ FIFA is now televised in its two largest markets – the US and the UK.

“There’s a profound opportunity for competitive gaming to achieve mainstream success and the key is accessibility,” said Todd Sitrin, SVP, GM, EA CGD. “We’re thrilled to be partnering with BT Sport to make our exciting competitions for EA SPORTS FIFA, the most popular video game in the UK, available across the nation as we move the industry forward.”

BT Sport will now air the remaining four EA FIFA Majors this year after a successful Season One – Season Two North American Regional Final in Vancouver (April 8), Season Two Asia-Pacific Regional Final in Singapore (April 22), Season Two European Regional Final in Madrid (May 6) and the FIFA 17 Ultimate Team Championship Final in Berlin (May 20-21).

“This is yet another example of innovation from BT Sport. Competitive interactive football is a rapidly growing industry and I’m delighted that BT Sport is now able to showcase it for the first time ever in the UK,” said Simon Green, Head of BT Sport.

If you aren’t in the UK or Republic of Ireland, you can also watch the remaining FIFA Ultimate Team Championship Series on ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and ESPN3, as well as live streamed on Twitch, YouTube and on EA.com.

Tune-in to see how these competitions unfold and learn who will be crowned champions!
